Catherine Chandler, a successful lawyer in New York City is one night savagely beaten in Central Park. Left for dead, she is rescued by a strange character with lion-like facial appearance.
He takes her to his home beneath the ground and cares for her while she recovers.
And so begins the absorbing tale of the Beauty Catherine and the Beast Vincent.
Vincent belongs to a community of outcast characters that love underground, using a series of complicated and complex tunnels to get around.
Vincent and Catherine become close after this encounter, forcing her to reevaluate her life.
After deciding to take up criminal prosecution, she is often placed in dangerous situations. And Vincent is always there to rescue her.
There is also an element of romance with a clear sense of attraction between the two lead characters. But also a sense that a relationship is not possible.
