Alles Malan is a South African, Afrikaans-language television drama series created by Corné and René van Rooyen and set in the Western Cape town of Paarl, which revolves around four generations of the Malan family.
Derik and Brenda Malan (played by Albert Maritz and Elsabé Daneel) are the patriarch and matriarch. Through their marriage of 40 years, they’ve managed to raise an "almost" perfect family.
After eight years in England, Frik (Ivan Zimmermann) - the firstborn - returns to take over the reins of Malan Vervoer, the family business.
His wife Tessa (Nadia Valvekens), a successful lawyer, is forced to turn housewife.
Their teenage daughter, Elani (Greteli Fincham), discovers she is pregnant and Freek (Mateo Olivier) - their adopted son - battles with his identity.
Nico (Sean-Marco Vorster), the youngest Malan son, is on the verge of marriage to Lee-Ann (Nicole Fortuin), but quits his job to pursue his rugby dreams.
The role of great-grandfather Peet is played by Marius Weyers.
Every family member faces their own challenges, but it's the way they handle these that will determine whether the Malans will stick together or scatter apart.
Other characters include Hélène Truter as Principal, Tim Theron as Herold, Kay Smith as Cathy, Tristan de Beer as Allen, Nic de Jager as Danie, Mbulelo Grootboom as the family doctor, Mila Guy as Vicky, Lee-Ann van Rooi as the school psychologist and Pierre van Pletzen as the rugby head, Hannes.
Brent Vermeulen plays the role of Johan, Elani's new love interest who supports her in all her decisions.
Alles Malan is produced by Red Letter Day Pictures. The co-directors are Corné and René van Rooyen, who also developed the concept for the series and are the head writers. Retief Scholtz, Burger Meyer and Lize Vosloo are also on the writing team.
The producer is Tascha van der Westhuizen.
