Description

bro'Town is a New Zealand animated adult television series based on the performance of the four-man group The Naked Samoans and set amongst New Zealand's growing Pacific Islander community.

The show satirises the culture of five boys, with vivid dialogue in the local vernacular, expressing what is like to grow up as a minority culture in Auckland, the largest Polynesian city in the world.

The series premiered in New Zealand on TV3 on 22 September, 2004. A 5th (and final) season will air in 2009, followed by a movie.

bro'Town premiered in South Africa on DStv's GO channel on Monday 11 August 2008, at 22h30. New episodes air daily, from Mondays to Fridays. There are six half-hour episodes in the first season.

Synopsis

bro'Town is New Zealand's first adult animated series. A modern day fairytale about five Auckland teenagers growing up in the big bad city, bro'Town chronicles the school misadventures of Vale, Valea, Sione, Mack and Jeff da Maori in a suburban, non-PC satire.

Vale, Valea, Jeff da Maori, Sione and Mack live in the suburb of Morningside and attend the local college, St Sylvester's.

Vale and Valea (loosely translates to dumb and dumber) are two brothers, living in a single-parent household with their father Pepelo, a benefit-bludging, occasional fork-hoist driver with a love of beer, pornography and gambling.

Vale has a strong social conscience while Valea is more interested in pashing the girls, but both brothers believe in having a strong solidarity with their boys.

Sione is Vale and Velea's best mate and fancies himself as a bit of a ladies' man.

Jeff da Maori lives with his mum and eight dads in a car shell outside the house. He was brought up in the country by his auntie but then moved to the city "for better TV reception and because the thieving colonialists stole our land".

Rounding out the group is the softly-spoken Mac who has definite gay tendencies and a knack for talking his way out of things - but he does stand behind his word eventually.
