Synopsis
The story of the tragic murder of PC Ian Broadhurst who was fatally shot during a routine traffic ‘stop and check’.
After going on the run, the murderer was eventually named as American David Bieber, who had stolen the identity of a dead five-year-old child and had come to the United Kingdom to flee charges of contract killing in the United States.
How did a promising sportsman from a stable family become a callous killer?
This special tries to find the answer and also features an emotional interview with Broadhurst’s family and exclusive footage of Bieber on the run.
The film is presented by Fiona Bruce and was originally shown to coincide with the end of Bieber’s trial in 2004.
