Season 1
Make Me a Supermodel is an American reality modeling competition television series based on the British series of the same name and produced by Tiger Aspect Productions in which the model contestants (half male and half female) compete week by week to win $100,000 and a modeling contract with New York Model Management.
The series premiered in the USA on Bravo on 10 January, 2008. There are 26 hour-long episodes in two seasons to date (including two double-episode finales).
Make Me a Supermodel premiered in South Africa on SABC3 on Monday 18 January 2010, at 20h00. New episodes air weekly. There are 14 episodes in the first season (SABC3 will air the finale in two parts).
Season 1
The hunt is on for the next great Supermodels with hosts Niki Taylor and Tyson Beckford.
It begins by unveiling the top 24 beautiful and talented men and women who will compete for a spot on the new reality competition series Make Me A Supermodel.
In a casting special, the 24 finalists will be whittled down to the 14 models that will ultimately compete for $100,000 and a modeling contract with New York Model Management — a professional modeling agency with a roster of models that includes Elle Macpherson, Sarah O'Hare, Omahyra, Travis and Mathias.
During the run of the series, viewers will vote each week to determine who stays to walk the "Supermodel" catwalk again and who goes home.
Over a 12-week period, 14 hopefuls will live together in a New York City loft and explore friendships, romance and naked ambition while undergoing a series of creative challenges designed to test their professional modeling potential.
This series will explore what it takes to turn the exceptionally good-looking into the king or queen of the catwalk.
The judges are casting director Jennifer Starr and Cory Bautista, director of New York Model Management. They are joined as judges by the hosts, Niki Taylor and Tyson Beckford.
Make Me A Supermodel is produced by Tiger Aspect Productions, a division of IMG Media. Lisa Perrin, Andrew Zein and Jamie Munro are executive producers.
Contestants
Aryn Livingston (20, from Lownesboro, Alabama)
Born and raised in the South, Aryn recently moved to New York City to prove herself as a model and is trying to make a living in the profession.
She has held a variety of jobs including working as a fifth grade teacher. She believes modeling is her real calling and is willing to do anything to show the world she has what it takes to be a supermodel.
In her spare time she enjoys equestrian sports, basketball and creative writing.
Ben DiChiara (22, from Nashville, Tennessee)
Ben has been working as a deputy sheriff correctional officer in Nashville for the past two years. He met his wife in high school, where they started out as friends in band camp, and have been together as a couple for six years.
A very active person, he runs daily and enjoys playing volleyball and Frisbee with friends.
After overcoming a very tough childhood and adolescent years, Ben considers himself lucky to have a great family and friends and to be healthy and alive.
His best experience was his wedding day.
Casey Skinner (19, from Atlanta, Georgia)
Casey lives with his mother, brother's boyfriend and friend in Georgia. A very active person, he has been skateboarding since he was a child.
A singer/songwriter, he finds happiness in discovering new music and loves all genres.
He enjoys adventure and spends his days hiking and river walking.
Dominic Prietto (25, from Orange County, California)
Dominic is a professional DJ who lives with friends on the Gold Coast.
Growing up, his father was a surfer and taught him a love of the ocean. He now surfs recreationally and skimboards competitively on a professional level.
Dominic hopes to pursue a career in modeling while holding on to his two other passions - music and waves.
Frankie Godoy (20, from Miami, Florida)
Frankie is an only child that lives with his parents in Miami. He studies business administration at the University of Phoenix online and works as a valet at a condo complex, but his real passion lies in modeling.
He spent two months in Europe modeling and spends his free time going to castings. Frankie draws his inspiration from music and believes it is the only reason the world is still turning.
He loves the ocean, enjoys surfing and has a bad habit of driving with his feet.
Holly Kiser (21, from Coeburn, Virginia)
Holly grew up on top of a mountain in the heart of Appalachia in a very strict and traditional family.
She has overcome many hurdles in her life, including suffering third degree burns on her face after graduating high school, but she credits her ability to overcome these struggles to her faith.
She now lives with her fiancé in Miami and is struggling to jump-start her modeling career. She describes herself as sassy, outspoken and quick witted.
In her spare time, she enjoys running and spending time at church.
Jacki Hydock (21, from Cleveland, Ohio)
Jacki is a part time cocktail waitress and aspiring model who lives with her mother. She dreams of making it in the modeling industry and is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal.
She describes herself as independent, ambitious and strong willed. Committed to animal rights, Jacki spends her spare time volunteering at an animal shelter.
An avid sports fan, she loves to watch basketball and football and used to play volleyball and basketball.
Jay McGee (22, from Roswell, Georgia)
Jay lives with his mother and their pitbull named Gotti in Georgia. He works at Firestone and spends his days working on and repairing cars.
Due to his adventurous spirit, he enjoys paintball, playing basketball, listening to all types of music and shopping. He loves being an uncle to his niece Taylen and nephew Lendzee.
Jay says his best life experience was working on a movie with Tyler Perry.
Katy Caswell (21, from Auburn, Alabama)
Katy grew up in a meagre home in Alabama where her grandparents helped raise her, but her humble upbringing allowed her to dream.
She describes herself as extremely determined, often traveling four hours a day, four times a week for casting calls.
She currently works in data entry at a cardiologist's office filing insurance claims and enjoys decorating, cleaning and horseback riding.
Perry Ullmann (22, from Los Angeles, California)
Perry was a natural born athlete and loved to play sports until he suffered a major knee injury. As an extremely motivated and determined individual, he decided to focus all his energy into modeling.
A great debater, he says he can talk his way in and out of anything. He lives in Los Angeles with his girlfriend, where he works as a part-time waiter.
He aspires to be a successful model to build a comfortable life for his family.
Ronnie Kroell (24, from Chicago, Illinois)
Ronnie is a full-time student studying political science at the University of Illinois. In his spare time, he also works as a model and an actor.
His biggest accomplishment has been starting a not-for-profit organization targeted towards bridging diversity through the arts.
Ronnie describes himself as a hard working, self-motivated, and adventurous individual with a passion for making a difference in the community.
Above anything else he is thankful to his family and friends for supporting his dramas.
Sarah Swartz (20, from Miami, Florida)
After her parents divorced, Sarah was raised by her single working mother, to whom she credits her ambition and determination. She is now a self-described social butterfly with a passion for life who is studying advertising.
She describes herself as personable, confident and flexible.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys listening to music, dancing and practicing yoga.
Shannon Pallay (22, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida)
A tireless optimistic, Shannon has a real passion for life. She grew up in Florida, but recently moved to New York City and spends her days looking for adventure in the city.
She describes herself as confident, polite, reserved and outgoing and says she is constantly contradicting herself.
She is a fan of bloody, horror movies and is happiest spending time with her cat, Lorelei.
Stephanie Bulger (21, from Plano, Texas)
Stephanie grew up in Texas with her parents and three younger sisters. She is currently a full time student studying art at Scripps College in California.
She spends her days covered in either oil paint or saw dust from working in the painting and sculpture studios. In her spare time at home she enjoys learning life lessons from her overweight Boxer dog, Gus, and says normal people bore her.
Stephanie describes herself as a loud extrovert with a hankering for art.
