Synopsis
On 11 June 1997, Izzard announced the dates of his new tour, Glorious, at a secret gig at the Union Chapel, London. He then began touring with the show in September that year.
Those performances made up the first ever comedy tour of London and marked Izzard's first solo appearance in the capital for two years - he subsequently played to 56,000 people in four weeks.
Filmed at the Apollo Theatre, Glorious is a loose trajectory from the beginning of the Old Testament and the creation of the world in seven days to Revelations. God, in the voice of James Mason, makes several appearances.
Along the way, Izzard dramatizes or comments on the search for a career, bad giraffes, Prince Phillip's gaffes, toilets in French campsites, the mysteries of hopscotch, becoming one's own dad, getting a computer to print, and his court victory after being the victim of "tranny bashing".
