Season 1

Dans! Dans! Dans! is a South African reality television competition that aims to find the country's best dancer and give them the chance to showcase their skills.

It premiered on DStv's kykNET channel on Saturday 19 January 2008, at 20h00. In addition to the Saturday shows, there was also results shows on Mondays at 20h00.

Synopsis

Judges Lorcia Cooper, Esther Nasser and Dirk Badenhorst travelled to Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg in their search for SA's top dance talent – finding the good, the bad, and the un-coordinated along the way.

Over 1,000 dancers auditioned with the hopes of winning the prize, which consists of:

- R100,000 in cash
- A Citroen C1
- An internship with Cape Town's JazzArt dance company

Choreographer Christopher Kindo also travelled with the judges, tasked with polishing the rough diamonds they found on the road and giving them a second chance to impress the judges – called a Dans Kans.

Dans! Dans! Dans! was hosted my former Miss Namibia, Mia de Klerk. Mia is also a well-known television presenter in her native country, hosting the weekly Winna Mariba game show.

The series began with auditions in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.

Once all the auditions were over, the Top 100 dancers travelled to Johannesburg for an intensive workshop, where 14 survived to dance for the cameras at the first themed spectacular show that was filmed at Carnival City.

Each week, the dancers drew a different dance style and paired up to perfect their routines.

The Results

On Saturday, 29 March 2008 the competition was won by 17-year Henk Opperman, from Bloemfontein.

The results were announced during the show's finale spectacular that was broadcast live from the Mardi Gras Theatre at Carnival City.

The three finalists who competed in the finale against him were:

19-year old Andile Ndlovu, from Ennerdale, Johannesburg
28-year old Nicole McCreedy, from Durban
27-year old Yarisha Singh, from Cape Town.
