Season 1
A sketch-based show created by British comedians Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson in which a few actors played numerous roles, with plenty of recurring characters and a seemingly inexhaustible collection of catchphrases.
The success of the show was based around the incredibly versatile acting and the ability of the writers to keep sketches short, sharp and intelligent.
Both Whitehouse and Higson were university friends of Harry Enfield and when Enfield was invited to perform a character called "Stavros" on Saturday Night Live he invited Whitehouse and Higson to be his writers.
Later the pair joined Enfield's own show (Harry Enfield And Chums) as writers and became convinced that they could pull off their own series based on sketches they'd written for Harry.
Thus The Fast Show was born, which lived up to its name by being crammed with as much material as Whitehouse and Higson could conceive.
The show ran in the UK and elsewhere from 1994 - 2000 and had two live tours, the first called Shooting Stars (1998) ands the second their Farewell Tour in 2002.
