Season 1
Power Couple South Africa is a South African reality game show based on the international format in which a number of couples move into a mansion together where their physical and mental acuity is put to the test in a series of challenges that test their relationships.
How would you fare if you faced a series of challenges and your partner had to bet on your odds of succeeding? Would you go all in on love?
That's what eight South African couples face in Power Couple South Africa, a reality series that tests not only the couples' physical ability and endurance, but their trust, communication skills and faith in each other.
Hosted by Ryan O'Connor, the series introduces the eight couples from across South Africa, who compete for the title of SA's next Power Couple, and the more than a million rand prize money that they could walk away with... if they invest wisely in their partner's ability to complete challenges that will test their relationship to the extreme.
Eight couples move into a luxurious villa somewhere in Cape Town. These couples compete in thrilling, nerve-wracking challenges, during which they have to illustrate how much they know, trust or love their partners.
Based on the outcome of these tasks, two couples will be up for elimination each week and the others will decide whom they would like to keep in the game.
These challenges – which will sometimes include high-adrenaline action adventures - allow the couples to accumulate thousands of rands by betting on whether their loved one will be able to complete a task, without knowing how much their partner has invested in their ability to succeed.
If they get it right, the money will be added to their kitty – but if the partner fails, the money will be subtracted from the amount they carry through to the end of the show.
In their first challenge the ladies will have to get down and dirty to retrieve their partner's sentimental items, and the guys will have to hang on to their partners for dear life, whilst answering questions about their relationships.
Viewers can play the Power Couple SA weekly prediction game to stand a chance of winning R500,000, as well as other weekly prizes.
