Season 1
Dirty Sanchez is a reality comedy television series featuring three Welshmen and an Englishman who display a total disregard for their own health and engage in extremely self-harmful acts.
It is known as Team Sanchez in the USA because of the original title's sexual reference.
The series originally premiered in the USA on MTV in 2003. There are four seasons and a feature film called Dirty Sanchez: The Movie.
Dirty Sanchez airs in South Africa on DStv's MTV channel.
Synopsis
Pain, mutilation and a sick love of skateboarding: Newport's sickest foursome unleashed.
Known as Team Sanchez in the USA (due to the sexual reference of their name), these four sick and fearless men made a name for themselves in MTV's British version of the Jackass series.
Dirty Sanchez is made up of three Welshmen - Matt Pritchard, Lee Dainton and Pancho - plus a Cornishman, Dan Joyce. They met through a love of skateboarding and wanton disregard for personal safety, and began performing crazy stunts for their own amusement years before MTV came sniffing.
At first Pritchard and Dainton filmed themselves larking around with skateboards. When the resulting videos called Pritchard vs Dainton were underground successes, MTV came calling.
They recruited friends Pancho and Joycey, and an extended cast which sometimes featured friends, family members and workmates.
Mostly filmed in Newport, the show first aired on MTV in 2002. Reactions were mixed, with some claiming it was merely a pale imitation of Jackass.
However, it soon demonstrated a rawer edge to its American counterpart, with segments containing more extreme stunts and male nudity. Indeed, Jackass felt rather tame in the wake of Dirty Sanchez, and the Newport boys quickly became stars.
The first season contains eight episodes. The second season, dubbed Jobs For The Boyos, is also eight episodes long, and documents visits to various institutions including a commando training camp, an Arizona ranch and a martial arts school.
Season three, which aired in 2005, is titled European Invasion. There are six episodes in the season.
It comprised visits to six countries - Sweden, Germany, Czech Republic, Greece, Italy and Spain - in which increasingly daring stunts are recorded during a live show. During one sequence, Pritchard is shot in a shooting range.
Continuing the live theme, they appear at the 2005 Reading and Leeds festivals between 2004 and 2006, where they perform stunts onstage including having their bare buttocks dragged across sandpaper.
Dirty Sanchez: The Movie was released on 22 September 2006. It had its world premiere in Cardiff. The stunts featured are extended and more extreme than many in the TV productions, with a plot involving a trip to hell and a challenge from the devil to enact the seven deadly sins.
The fourth season - entitled "Dirty Sanchez 4: Behind The 7 Sins" - goes behind the scenes of the movie and shows the boys reactions to each sin that they had to perform, in each of the countries.
These sins are: Lust, Greed, Envy, Sloth, Gluttony, Anger and Pride.
