Season 2
The second season of this lavish period drama sees King Henry VIII pressing ahead with his plans to do whatever it takes – including breaking with the Pope – to divorce Queen Katherine and marry Anne Boleyn.
This is amid the religious turmoil that is consuming England. But the task won't be that simple.
As he seeks the annulment of his marriage to Katherine of Aragon, King Henry appoints himself the head of the Church of England.
Anne Boleyn insists that Henry remove Queen Katherine from the picture - and Court. The new Pope Paul III, not wanting to displease either the king or the queen, practically suggests that Anne Boleyn be assassinated instead.
Michael Hirst is the series creator, writer and executive producer. Ben Silverman of Reveille and Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title also executive produce. The series was produced by TM Productions and co-financed by Showtime and Peace Arch Entertainment Group, Inc.
