Season 2
About a Boy is an American single-camera television sitcom developed by Jason Katims as an adaptation of the 1998 novel of the same title by Nick Hornby, in which successful songwriter and bachelor Will Freeman lives a carefree life as the "ultimate man-child" until his perfect world is turned upside down when single mother Fiona and her 11-year-old son Marcus move in next door.
Will Freeman (David Walton, Bent, Perfect Couples) lived a charmed existence in San Francisco. After writing a hit song, he was granted a life of free time, free love and freedom from financial woes. He's single, unemployed and loving it.
So imagine his surprise when Fiona (Minnie Driver, The Riches), a needy single mom and her oddly charming 11-year-old son, Marcus (Benjamin Stockham, 1600 Penn), move in next door and disrupt his perfect world.
When Marcus begins dropping by his home unannounced, Will's not so sure about being a kid's new best friend. But before he realises it, Will starts to enjoy the visits and even finds himself looking out for the kid. In fact, this newfound friendship teaches him a thing or two that he never imagined possible - about himself and caring for others.
By the end of Season 1, Will has fallen in love with Sam, a beautiful doctor. But when that love takes him to New York and away from Fiona and Marcus, Will realises just how much they mean to him. Will he stay in New York for love, or return to his home and to Marcus, whom he has grown to love as well?
The series also stars Al Madrigal (Gary Unmarried) as Will's best friend Andy, a thoroughly whipped stay-at-home dad, and Annie Mumolo (Bridesmaids) as his wife Laurie.
Katims, Tim Bevan (Les Misérables, About a Boy), Eric Fellner (Les Misérables, About a Boy), Liza Chasin (Les Misérables, About a Boy), Robert De Niro (About a Boy, Meet the Parents) and Jane Rosenthal (About a Boy, Meet the Parents) serve as executive producers.
About a Boy is a production of Universal Television, Working Title Films, True Jack Productions and Tribeca Productions.
