Average Joe: Adam Returns takes up where Average Joe 1 left off last, following Adam Mesh as he returns to New York City after facing romantic rejection before nearly 20 million viewers.
In his own series, Adam gets a second chance at fairytale romance when he travels back to Palm Springs where the saga began to take a turn at finding love from among his legion of female fans.
The morning after the Average Joe 1 finale aired, the NBC switchboard was inundated with phone calls from women offering to right the wrong inflicted by Melana when she chose the ‘hunk’ over the ‘average joe.’ Eager to be the special woman in Adam’s life, fans flooded his email account and answering machine trying to contact him.
With Average Joe: Adam Returns, these women have the opportunity to meet the man they fell for on television, in hopes of proving that they are the woman of his dreams.
But in true Average Joe fashion, Adam and his potential dates will face twists and turns to test their veracity and to push their emotions to the limit as they discover each other’s true personalities on the road to romance.
Along the way, familiar faces from the Average Joe series appear to offer assistance in Adam’s search for true love. At the end of each episode, Adam must send some of the women home, knowing from experience the heartbreak that they will carry onto the bus as they leave.
