Season 4
The fourth season of the Survivor South Africa franchise features nine celebrities taking on 10 ordinary people in a "plebs vs celebs" scenario.
The grand prize this season is R1-million. Nico Panagio returns to host Survivor for the second time, having taken over from Mark Bayly for Season 3.
The entry process worked differently this season to ensure that as many people as possible could have a face-to-face interview and audition during the selection process.
In past seasons of Survivor SA entries had to be submitted in writing first before an audition was booked. This year there was an open casting call at auditions in Cape Town (21 August, 2010), Durban (28 August, 2010) and Johannesburg (4 September, 2010).
Stripped from all luxuries, the contestants are subjected to soaring temperatures, thunder storms, nasty bugs and devious tribe mates with hidden agendas.
Who will be strong – or smart – enough to survive the dreaded tribal council? And whose torch will be snuffed by Nico? Only one thing is for sure: there can be only one Ultimate Survivor.
The fourth season was won by actor Hykie Berg.
