Season 4
Set in the town of Colorado Springs in 1868, Dr Mike returns after her father’s death to take over his practice and look after the folks from a place very dear in her heart. Their battle to accept her and their stubbornness and unwillingness to open their minds to new concepts, leaves her frustrated and questioning her decision.
But there are reasons for her to stay, the children, Matthew, Colleen and Brian who she undertakes to care for after their mother dies from and rattlesnake bite and of course, Sully, the American man who has taken on the lifestyle of the Native Americans, much to the horror of the townsfolk. They become kindred spirits as they use traditional and alternative methods to heal and educate the town.
The earlier seasons dealt with Dr Mike’s struggle to be accepted and her attempts to help the town to the best of her abilities. Later seasons focused on her marriage to Sully and the child they had together.
Despite predictions of doom the show was a massive success the world over and it relaunched the career of jane Seymour. After 6 successful seasons there have already been 2 made-for-tv movies and fans are begging for a 3rd instalment to the movies.
