Season 5
Law & Order: UK is a British police procedural television series adapted from the American series Law & Order created by Dick Wolf and based in London, which follows the professional lives of several police officers and prosecutors who represent the public interest in the criminal justice system.
A host of British acting talent comes together to form the ensemble cast for the UK adaptation of the Emmy Award winning legal and crime drama.
Employing the original series' iconic two-part structure – focusing first on a criminal investigation at police level, then shifting in the second half to the legal prosecution of the suspects – Law & Order: UK brings a uniquely British perspective to one of most successful franchises in US primetime television history.
Representing the front line is Bradley Walsh as DS Ronnie Brooks – a real East End cop, and friend and partner to the charismatic DS Matt Devlin (Jamie Bamber), whose approach to policing is part force, part seduction.
Both report to Harriet Walter as DI Natalie Chandler, a working mum who would back them to the end.
On the side of the Law is the Crown Prosecution Service team comprising Freema Agyeman as hard-working, strong-willed young prosecutor Alesha Phillips; Ben Daniels as dedicated Senior Crown Prosecutor James Steel, a man on a mission for justice; and Bill Paterson as their respected boss, CPS director George Castle, a man trying to balance his ideals with the bigger picture.
The brainchild of creator Dick Wolf, Law & Order won the 1997 Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series and holds the record for the most consecutive nominations for a drama series (11).
It has also become one of TV's most pre-eminent entertainment brands, with its successful spin-offs Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
