Synopsis
Chalk and cheese detectives Dalziel (pronounced "Dee-el") and Pascoe are a formidable team, the brawn and brains of Yorkshire crime fighting.
Set in the fictional Yorkshire town of Wetherton, the duo is always on hand to solve the classic murder mystery, while maintaining a down to earth wit and humour.
Detective Superintendent Andy Dalziel is a copper from the old school who speaks his mind and gets the job done his way. He is politically incorrect and often insensitive. He likes to do things in the old fashioned way.
Handsome Detective Inspector Peter Pascoe is his opposite. Pascoe is university educated and one of the new breed of career police officers, armed with a degree in sociology, a caring attitude and a sharp brain.
He becomes divorced from his wife Ellie in season 5, due to the fact that he cared more for his work than for her. His wife and daughter then move to the United States.
There are other regular characters who work with the police officers.
