Automotive Brit show Top Gear has resumed filming, two weeks after the
near-fatal crash of presenter Richard Hammond in a jet-powered car.
Hammond was approaching the British land speed record of just over 480km/h at the Elvington airfield near York when his car veered off the track and rolled a number of times.
Hammond suffered a brain injury which he has still not fully recovered from yet - doctors believe it will be six months before he is back to his normal self.
There were
fears following the crash that Top Gear would be canned, but the BBC has confirmed that it will not be.
Filming resumed yesterday for the new season of the show, without the services of Hammond.
"We are resuming filming parts of the next series that don't involve Richard," said a BBC spokeswoman.
"We remain committed to Top Gear and there was never any question of it being axed."
Hammond is reportedly delighted at the news.
Top Gear Xtra currently airs every Saturday and Sunday on BBC Prime.
