Gareth Chops Off Lezel's Head

lezelEPISODE ELEVEN

Eventually. The yawny, clingy Ranians have been forced to turn on each other and things got as cut-throat and stabby-stabby as they should be.

The Lezel-loathing reached fever pitch and was all very real when she left and didn't even look back to say goodbye after even her nearest and dearest turned on her.

She deserved every bit of betrayal she got considering how she managed to convince Zayn that she saw him differently from how she did. One moment she was determined to get rid of him above Gareth and the next Zayn was singing her praises saying how close they've been, never once seeming to think it was him she was after.

Her and Jacinda deciding on targeting Zayn before Gareth at the beginning of the episode was too ridiculous. Honestly I don't even know what else to say about it except that surely, surey, the only logical conclusion would have been to target him as soon as humanly possible?

They didn't have time to suffer the consequences but still, the moment they said it I decided Gareth should actually win this thing 'cos at least he hasn't dumbly kept his fiercest competitors.

That said - I'm verry suspicous of all his Mr Breezy Guy claims - I mean, what happened to his alliance with Jacinda? I thought the two of them were literally married they were so close and suddenly in this episode he's going on about Zayn being his best buddy and how much he makes him laugh. I've only seem him look irritated by him so I just don't get it.

All I can think of as a reason is that Zayn calls him G and it somehow appeals to his ego or something.

This is how everything started - with Zayn and Gareth romantically lurking their buddy-butts amongst the rocks talking about their love while Lezel discussed targeting Zayn first.

They were called to their Reward Challenge next but just before they went, Gareth chopped the head off a pelican while Jacinda held it and refused to watch.

Zayn was nowhere to be seen but was naturally the first to tuck into it once it was cooked - while Gareth wasn't even around to eat it. How crap was that? The way they all three let him do the dirty work and then proceeded to polish it off, leaving the most disgusting boney remnants of it for him.

During this time he was of course off having cyber-smooch with his girlfriend after having won the Reward Challenge. Not that we actually knew it was officially his girlfriend up until later when Mark confirmed it 'cos not once during the entire thing did anyone bother introducing who she was. We must have seen her for at least five minutes and yet she was a no name brand through it all.

I don't know how anyone would want to win that family-time reward - there's  noo ways you could be honest with your loved-one which must be so much pressure. You'd have to speak to them fakely but with the sub-text that they know and you know that they know kind of thing. Hopefully that makes sense.

Luckily it was clearer who the rest of their families were in their cringe-fest chatter with them before the Reward.  OMG - if my mother had to speak to me on national TV the way Zayn's mother coochy-coo'ed him I'd never speak to her ever again in my life. She can't possibly really baby him like that could she? Not that she was alone - they all spoke as if they were speaking to pre-teens.

Still, it was kinda nice seeing them get a bit of love and I always laugh hysterically when they cry so I enjoyed it generally. The Reward Challenge that followed was okay-ish in a forgettable way and Gareth winning was unsurprising. The weirdy thing is that it really doesn't seem that difficult to beat his scrawn and yet none of them ever do.

As for what he said to his no name girl - it was sweetish I suppose. She didn't seem shocked enough at his messiah appearance though.

This is when his disciplines chowed down his pelican sacrifice without him and then it was off to the Immunity Challenge that involved lighting a fire, swimming to a platform, burning rope to release a key and swimming back to unlock a chain to light another two woks.

Ultimately the reward proved that laziness always has dire consequences when Zayn, Lezel and Jacinda lost because they've never even tried to light a fire since they've arrived. Jacinda did a bit better but Zayn and Lezel (who didn't even get past the first fire) were soo useless they may as well not have bothered.

How you can rely so completely on everyone else to get this type of basic stuff right is beyond me. Lighting a fire obviously isn't the simplest thing but when you've got hours and hours to practice, knowing how to do this should be one of your most fundamental strategies for your long-term survival.

As a result Gareth deserved getting himself into the most important position of the four and when they returned to their camp Lezel's panic set in and she went around telling everyone that was she was prepared to stab Jacinda.

I must say I enjoyed seeing Lezel's grovelling and I didn't agree with Zayn when he said  .. mm - I can't remember what word he used but it suggested she was wrong in doing what she was. She had no other option, in the same way Jacinda was eventually forced to whack her.

All in all the episode showed why it's ridiculous for anyone to take anything personally ever and also how important it is to fight to death.

I just remembered something. The reason Lezel said that if the girls win they must take Gareth with them instead of Zayn. It was because of Zayn not having done a smidgen of anything versus Gareth who has. As thick as this decision would have been strategically, I suppose it's quite a brave reason to take someone further as opposed to taking the weakling everyone knows hasn't done a thing.

It warms me up to the idea of Lezel being one of the two who returns to haunt them from Dead Man's Island.
As it ended I had a good chuckle thinking about her skulliness facing Aguila's loathing and then got freaked by what diffs this Dead Man's Island can actually make.

When two return next week they're still down in the numbers which means it's all totally going to be depend on the Immunity Challenge and whether or not they win it.

As for who I'd like see returning with Lezel - Mzi of course. They've both got a lot of issues they need to get off their chests so I reckon it should defs be them.
