Springs siblings Zerolly and Joseph Mtakane impressed M-Net's Idols team at the Standard Bank arena on Sunday 24 June not only with their voices, but also with their good humour. The pair have been greenlighted through to the next round.
These two have been competing in singing competitions for years and Joseph (19) admits to being a little afraid of his sister's vocal prowess.
Sixteen-year-old Zerolly agrees that she's probably the better singer of the two - "Have you heard him?" she jokes. But both siblings agree that Joseph is the one with the brains in the family.
Zerolly has always yearned for the spotlight and was just waiting to turn 16 so that she could enter Idols. She can't wait to meet Colin Moss.
Joseph says he got dragged into it, as always - the brother and sister are exceptionally close and tend to do everything together, especially since their parents emigrated to England seven years ago, leaving them in the care of their aunt.
This brother and sister duo will now sing for Idols judges Dave Thompson, Randall Abrahams, Mara Louw and Gareth Cliff on Tuesday. Joseph owes his sister R100 because he bet her that neither of them would make it past the first round.
When auditions wrap in Johannesburg on Tuesday, the Idols audition tour moves to Cape Town, where auditions start on Friday, 29 June, at the River Club in Observatory.
The rest of the auditions nationwide are:
Margate: Main Beach, Thursday, 5 July.
Knysna: Oakhill School, Tuesday, 10 July.
Centurion: Supersport Park, Wednesday, 18 July.
