Johannesburg youth are eager for a life in the spotlight - that much was clear on the second day of the M-Net
Idols auditions in Johannesburg at the Standard Bank Arena on Monday 25 June.
Seventeen-year-old Wade Jackson is eager to follow in the footsteps of his mother, Bridget, a well-known South African performer who is currently hitting the airwaves with her solo hit, “I’ve Been Waiting”.
“I told the Idols officials that I was definitely going to pass the first round,” said Wade, with all the confidence he gained from studying at Johannesburg’s famed National School of the Arts.
But how will he fare with
Dave Thompson,
Randall Abrahams,
Mara Louw and
Gareth Cliff on Tuesday?
Ziyanda Tuswa (22) returned from working in England three weeks ago and is eager to try out for a singing career. And if possible, she’s even more eager to meet Idols host
Colin Moss.
Patience Mavuso, a 22-year-old nail technician from Kensington, has toured Switzerland with her school choir but has never performed as a solo artist.
When auditions wrap in Johannesburg tomorrow night, the Idols audition tour packs up and decamps to Cape Town, where auditions start on Friday, 29 June at the River Club in Observatory.
The rest of the auditions nationwide are:
Margate: Main Beach, Thursday, 5 July
Knysna: Oakhill School, Tuesday, 10 July
Centurion: Supersport Park, Wednesday, 18 July
For more details about the entry process, call the Idols helpline at (011) 789 8558 or fax (011) 789 8607.
