Born in New York, Sekou Bunch began pursuing his creative talents at an early age. I swear the island’s going to tip over with the number of left-brainers they cast. One of his first paintings was displayed at the Museum of Art in New York. He was one of the original break dancers who would often attended parties with DJ Kool Herc himself. I’ll pretend to know who that is and act suitably impressed.
His most notable talent is neither as an artist not a break dancer however but as a musician – an actual, successful one. Billy and Nate, take note. His first LP Funkin’ For Jamaica went gold and he plays a crapload of musical instruments.
He’s currently a successful jazz musician who’s worked with a billion famous people, including Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, Liza Minnelli, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Roger Daltry and Ice Cube. Man, it’s so weird how they’ve actually cast legitimate talented people along the wannabes. He can also be seen in Dreamgirls. If you’re looking for him, he’s the reality show reject who didn’t win the Oscar.
He enjoys gardening, painting, reading, drawing and writing, and I bet he’s good at all of them, overachieving bastard. He is most proud of achieving his first gold record when he was nineteen. Beats being a damn
model boxer, that’s for sure.
