SABC: not a risk taker

it has come to my attention that the television pendemic (namely SABC), is coming to a halt when speaking in reference to good proramming.. we got Dstv at home but before the Ds "takeover" my key informative to whats being watched in the U.S or UK was SABC...

in those days (when a phalaza was the "in" thing) SABC kinda dominated the "viewing waves". i was always glued to the screen and found programmes such as Lesilo or Phamukate reviting. now all that we see is plain old Generations, Boring Muvhango, Constant fighting Isidingo and not so funny City Ses'la. and the programmes worth watching e.g Home Affairs, The Lab, Zero Tolerance etc. are always cut short coz they deal with real issues.

Just a few months ago (just before the gay confusion/havoc causing mini-series After9 started) SABC 1- the infamous Mzantsi fo sho- decided to can(remove) a very revealing programme (Umthunzi Wentaba) that tackled the aspect of initiation schools in S.A and what realy happens there.. apparently "viewers" (meaning insecure folks) didnt appreciate such a programme being aired.

Like seriously now, who wouldnt want to know what realy goes on "ko komeng". besides the obvious parents who believe a boy should get close to death or die to be a real man.. how pathetically sad.

C'mon SABC.... even the news seem more interesting.

its no wonder the why people do whatever it takes to get Ds, even if its just Dstv Compact. Atleast there, they will find something worth talking bout the next day.

my friend o opile kgomo lenaka, the thing is this people from the sabc also watch DSTV.
- A positive to me is they brought " everybody hates chris" to prime time loved the first episode.
- I also think EMS v1 is a good show maybe it is because those kids are not knew to this presenting game.

Royalty u can still catch Umthunzi Wentaba tonight @ 21H00 if u really want to know what goes on "ko komeng". Unfortunately tonight is the last episode if i am right, u missed the previous episodes. Only the first 2 where indeed eye opening and educational but the last one it was very lukewarm. I think it is the one they changed to satisfy those who were against the airing in the beginning.

Nice one Royalty,  those ambassadors....... what was the point, cnat SABC one jsut do like sabc2 and Etv, just a voice telling us whats next, maybe Andile's voice (friends like these). i aint feeling those presenters at all, instead of paying them, they must buy meaningful programmes.
