Please call me's
-According to us the people of mzansi the above words have many meanings:
1. How are you - someone will send a call-back message and you call right away only for them to tell you that they were just greeting you but i mean if budget is the prolem Cell-C containers are there 90c/min and you can also talk for free on weekends.

2. is love still in the air- your partner or makhwapeni will send you a call-back just to see if you still have the hots for them, if you dont respond to that call-back then you are in danger.

3.Recharge me - atleast Voda and MTN have realised this and they came up with free recharge me messages but their meanings are also mis-interpreted.i mean there are some people when you recieved their call-backa you know for a fact that they are going to say " ke kgopela airtime".
-there are many meanings you can think of

Personilization
Whoever came with this thing of persinilizing our call-back messages has started another thing, this thing is now used as an sms because every message can be squeezed to a ten letter word. MTN is worse because you can change it eveyrday.
- Please call " moneyless"
- Please call " come.now"
- please call " how.r.u"

there is more to a call-back than asking someone to call you.

Hey madenza nice article, when i was still with mTN and u could change 3 times a day. my sister sent me 3 call me backs,saying please call "uphi" (where are you) bcoz i was broke I personalized to "nditakile", meaning I am @ my boyfriends house. So iforgot 2 change it. 3 days later i sent my aunt call me back on my phone. And she phoned back saying "you undisciplined bit**, have u forgotten how old I am, do u think i wanna know when u going 2 get a shag" i wish i was in Cape Town, i would come over and bleksem u" 2 cut a long story short I stayed away from personalising and MTN also.

But on a sweet note, when my b/f & i were still @ school, him in PE me in CT, everynite b4 he goes 2 sleep he would send me a please call "GUDNITE", which i thought was very very sweet.

Nna I only respond to call backs from people whom I know that if they send them, things are tight, otherwise they would just call.

But they can be a bit irritating sometimes. And the one person that irritates me to hell with them is my brother. But I always make him send the very last one before I call. If ga di ise di fele, I don't call. Hi-hi

But when I was still in tertiary, I lived by pls call "I-love-you" Lol

yes those please call msgs i used to answer every time,even ones that i did not know cause i would think maybe they r in trouble just to find that a person will tell u oh i just wanted to say hi!so why did they not call themselves to tell me that?and to think i used my last two rand and then they wont even talk for the whole minute i need to get that free sms . then theres my youngest brother please call me for him say a lot of things like get into mxit,load air,im here,hi,the lot so i have told him to stop and just go mxit laeve message there will answer when i can.

1.2c if the person phone is on or off with Vodacom get a delivery note if the phone is off (callback cudnot b delivered)
2; there r thos friends who dnt call n our method of chatting is via PCM
evry month i make sure i personalize

my boyfriend used to send me a lot of pls call i.luv.u(were the sweetest then) or "im.coming" or "thank.u" or "wait.4.u" then they would help getting the message home......

@ Andie01 i used to have the same problem of forgeting to change the personalized call me backs and that would get me in trouble.. but now i hate pls call me especially from a guy....

I hate oPlease Call Me period. I even prefer a missed call, than that. Coz u know when u hear ur msg tone there's that excitement that u are about to receive a sweet msg, then when u see that it's a Please Call I Miss You, u just wanna die. My logic is, if u really miss me, then why don't u call me kumthinte ngo 50c???

good topic dUDE, I hate all men who send ladies a call back. if you are a man and send Tsheps a call back she returns it the same way. men are not suppose to be broke. if I am broke I am using the work phone even if I knocked off and must make a call I return to my workplace and makes some calls. I had a stich boyfriend who used to send me missed calls only when he knows I am on duty. but oneday, he done it again and I called him and tell him DIE BIETJIE WAT EK HET.

mr libra and i use call backs to say hi, we dont personalise we send it as it is throughout the day i send it he replies immediately to say he is fine and vice versa.
if its an emergency then we send two call backs in a row then we know we need to talk and we call.i also respond to my mom's and my siblings call backs cos they only send it when there is a need.i do not respond to any call back i do not recongise the numbers cos mostly i do not know those people.

I also I hate PCM.. di a tena ka nnete..I magine late at night sleeping and the phone rings, while u hoping that it a sweet msg from ur bf only 2 find out that it is a stupid PCM.. well my sis send it wen she wants us 2 mxit or in any case of emergency...
Other callbaks i ignore... But nam I used to send callbaks 2 my couzn while i was at tertiary.. (food.pls, no.meat, cum.fast) those wher the days wen mtn allowed the users to change the callbcks 3 times a day...

Well i'm more like Monchy , I only answer call-backs when i'm in goodmood and have the cash or airtime to call. If I don't feel like calling u i just personalize mine and say "u call me" and send it back to u. If it's a guy i don't waste my time and battery, i don't respond period!

Guy remember when you have an unlimited no of call backs back in the day? i used to go all out...but the day i started hating call backs is when i was planning my friends wedding. i would send her a message giving her an update on what's been done and so forth and she would send me a call back... WTF?

mind you the reason why i would send her a message is because i couldn't call her cause she works at a very noisy place so when she sent the call back i would think maybe i've done something wrong of forgot to sort out something. So i would call her hoping i would here what she had to say with that loud machinery in the background... and yeah i would hear what she wanted to say which was something i didn't want to hear "i just wanted to tell you that i got your message *grrr..............*machinery in the background"

I only respond to PCM when my momz or my siblins send me. Atleast i know that they won't just send it for fun. But what keeps me off is getting a PCM frm a guy, that's a huge turn off. This one guy sent me PLZ call ndiphandle (I'm outside). I never even bothered. Then u get oo-PLZ call Mxit, WTF as if i have the time.

Pooky, PCM diphandle is better than Please Call "Phuma!!!" that one is like a cheap person that is still being arrogant. Shame but fo thina bo darkie, I think abo PCM has a lot to do with the "Culture Of Saving" that our ancestors instilled in us. Some people even plan to send a PCM & u hear them saying: "Lalela mesengifikile I will send u a Please call "OUTSIDE".

i hate PCMs as well cause i don't understand WHY i should be paying to speak to the person that wants to speak to me! I never respond to pls call me's unless it's my mom that sends it or someone sends all their PCMs in rapid succession cause for me that's an emergency call..almost like an SOS.

Eish guys, i hate pls calls with a passion, and anyone who knows me knows this, so they only send please call's for legit reasons.

I once heard of a guy who got a pls call for a girl: Pls call "etym", meaning he must buy her etym, which he did.
And she replied with another pls call: Pls call "Dankie"...
I dont know where i heard that from, mite have been from TVSA.

One of my friends is on Vodacom(so she can only change once a month) and her Pls call says pls call "your angel", which i guess is meant for her boyfriend, bt now everytime she sends a pls call, that wat we see...hai.

Bathong, even worse is when you call back and ask what's the problem? Response you get is I called you. Mntu omnyama, that free Please Call Me is not a call. Should you not respond then and finally meet later then you'll hear "oko ndikufowunela, ubuphi? or simply put, you didn't reply to my sms. Bathong, have you noticed that should the Callback message run out then the poor soul will then resort to sending you one that says "Please top=up my airtime..." Very irritating indeed.
