While attending all those live Big Brother eviction shows and meeting all those stars and getting the feel and sound of the music; I really really felt left out at times. I wanted some good old feminine touch that Lebo, MaBrr and TK would bring to the stage.
Lebo MathosaI loved the music, loved the vibe – felt so inspired to learn more about African artists that I couldn’t help but remember Lebo Mathosa, Brenda Fassie and TK Mhinga. Oh! The sadness I felt when I was at the BBA finale and thought “Lebo would have rocked this show!”
TKI am not saying I was not happy with the chosen artists – I just felt robbed by death. Can you imagine the kinda music they would have come up with for this silly season? They always managed to break through the mould and bring something moving and wow to our festive season. Who can forget all those countless hits we celebrated the beginning of a new year with?
Lebo, Brenda and TKHow do you feel? – TK
Higher and Higher – Brenda Fassie
Lerato – Lebo Mathosa (or was it Boom Shaka)
Brenda FassieI recently discovered a song MaBrr did with a Congolese band, Magic System, and I rock the song to work. She was singing in Zulu while they sang in French and Lingala. It sounds very nice, I am just wondering why it never got big here. MaBrrr had traveled our continent and worked with some of the big stars of Africa like Papa Wemba and Koffi Olomide.
Lebo had worked with Keith Sweat. We all know how that went down. But she was gonna still make it big with our African stars. I sincerely believe she would have most likely worked with the likes of Nameless, P-Square and Jose Chameleone – to name a few! I met Lebo Mathosa a couple of times – almost never missed her shows.
TK, our beautiful black butterfly – I still get Goosebumps when I listen to that song that got us all hooked on her before she even had an album – the song about a man. What’s the name of that song again? Yah, that one! Anyways, whenever they play the song “How do you feel? On radio, I just wanna cry!
As an article I recently read on the net said “Brenda makes her own rules”, I personally feel all these three ladies lived their lives to the fullest (may be shortlived, but still fulfilled) and shared their good, bad and ugly with the fans. We love them still!
Can you imagine the kind of tunes they would have done had they worked together? Eish! Sad! Sad! Sad!
There must be some material these wonderful ladies left behind, producers get together and throw us an album with all of ‘em.
