Family Portrait

Who are we without them, they shape and form a large part of our lives and personalities. Where are we without them? No, its not men, it’s our families.
And in Africa they play a big role in our daily lives, even at the work place. How?
You know mos when you give yourself a long weekend, then you come back to work and say you were at your mother’s great aunts cousin’s funeral. Yep family in Africa is BIG! Whether your direct family is small, there is extended family. Some are lovely, others frustrating or just plain odd!
But you gotta love ‘em!

Famous TV families
The Days of our Lives is one of the oldest soapies around, it has a strong sense of family. The main ones being the Horton’s and the Brady’s, where they grew up together and end up marrying each other, only to discover that the person they married is not who they are, just a clone of Stefano DiMera. Hayi, it’s too confusing to explain.

The Forrester’s and the Spectra’s of the Bold and the Beautiful, feuding fashionistas and the Logan’s, represented by Brooke, ever eager to open her legs as long is it serves her purpose.

On Mzantsi territory, we have the mighty Morokas, the only surviving member being the very tragic old spinster Karabo (lets shed a tear!)
In Horizon Deep we have the Matabanes, who to much frustration to some TVSA bloggers just won’t leave Vusi Moletsane’s house. I always say the more, the merrier, and Vusi must bring his family to help chase these Matabanes to the low cost council housing.
We have the Haynes, who had a recent addition with Dineyo, Barker’s long lost beloved daughter and shadow. This high and mighty family has been brought down to its knees by the unforgettable Cherel (Cruela) DeVilliers.

Did you notice if you play a villain your surname will be De Villiers, Anne (Generabbish) cousin of Cherel, descendent of Cruela DeVille (101 Dalmatians).
And not to forget abakwa Sibiya down the road in Zone 14.

Who are some of your favourite TV families, both in Mzantsi and overseas?
Which TV family would you like to be part of?
Do you have a weird family like mine; are you weird because of them like me? Do you want to tell someone, like me? Any weird stories?
Does your family resemble any family from a TV show, or book?
Should your family have its own TV show, what would it be called?

The Osbournes? The Spears should make a reality programme, and the Jacksons!
The Sono’s and Motaung’s, the Motsepe’s and Mabuza-Suttle’s.

Family can’t live with them, can’t live without them!

Who are some of your favourite TV families, both in Mzantsi and overseas?
The Walkers from the series Brothers and Sisters. Those people are so in each other's lives its not funny....

Do you have a weird family like mine; are you weird because of them like me? Do you want to tell someone, like me? Any weird stories?
Nah, my family is pretty straight forward, no weired characters. We are close but are also individuals. I love my family, wouldn't want to be in any other!

Family can’t live with them, can’t live without them!
Very True!

I think the Kardashians are the most fcked up family I have seen lately on TV, Check them on E-ntartainment channel Thats in reality TV

The Forresters the less said about them the better I was subjected to the bold while I was with my family in Dec and I was so shocked to find that brooke is still trying to marry Ridge and to make it worse Bridget who I las saw as a kid was pregnant with Nick baby at the same time Nick was married to Brooke and the minute brooke hears the news he runs back to Ridge who welcomes her with open arms. Now O mean yes it is a soapie but must it be so Fcked up!

Bree's Family (desperate housewives) seems interesting cause as messed up as they are bree is trying by all means to keep them together.

Does your family resemble any family from a TV show, or book? Last week on Khumbul' ekhaya I saw "my brother" on tv sad as it was I could help laughing cause he was a duplicate of my brother. "wena futhi ngiyk'zonda and futhi ngizoze ngife ngikuzonda" and two minutes later all is well "I know I said painful things to you I didnt mean them it just happens" sigh! Families you cant live with them and you cant live without them with all their dramas!

firstly i must say nice topic my sista

you know what i wish we were still living in olden days but unfortunately we are not, coz if we were nobody would be complaining about any family problems.

what i am trying to say is: nowadays families are fighting bcoz of greed and some unessesary stuff and thhat is a big turn off and we end up resenting our own families.

my all time favourates are:
1.  everybody hates chris
2. wayans family
3. bill cosby
4. the sbiyaz on mzansi

these are tv families that can do anything to keep their family close

oh and the resent movie that i watched THIS CHRISTMAS
WOW  that was a movie ma sista

Well I love the Soul food family- i love them munis the drama though its way too much.but then again i wouldnt have watched the series if wasnt for the drama

also love my wife and kids.

my family is normal (so i think other people may think otherwise.

u see we are a family of 5 + abrother in law,a niece and nephew -we get along well and enjoy playing pranks on each other and we laugh a`lot.  the only weird thing about us as that we can walk into a bathrooom or while someone is dressign upor taking a bath and its not issue-(there is 3girls,1boy and mom - all of us are over 23) some peopel find it weird- but its normal for us.

i love it when all of us sit on my mom's bed and chat about well everything-we laugh so hard we cant even hear a knock at the door

my mother's family are the craziest bunch -they make silly jokes and speak thier minds just like that.  i love them all even those i do not like.
i miss those family gatherings now.

2. dad - agrees with everything mom says (he is a sweetheart)
3. sister love - crazy, honest, fun to be with but when she gets angry be as far away from her as possible
4. brother love - quite never say a word but dont provoke him
5. me - bring together people kinda person, loving, mad cow, have mom's rage (but is triggered)
6. young man - i love him so much,care-free attitude, loving, lies, artistic, gets caught, gets himself out or calls "me" for help, he is great

@ Libra............ Do u also walk into ur brother in law??????????????????
PrettyPree, what are u asking? u know what libra does we also do it in my family except for stepdaddy and our little brother (he is 16 and he reckons we cant see his package now coz its reserved for special people...oh abanopatazana umtasekhaya bethuna) otherwise we walk from the bathroom right through to our rooms - nothimmajor,
Madea's family also very much reminds me of my family. we are like the typical African family, mother's aunt's couzin's daughter we will attend their wedding or funeral as long as there is a link to them and we might not have seen them for the past 534 years, they're still family.

nice one sis"wink",

well i love my mom's side of my family. recently we went to a funeral of my uncle and when we were travelling back to the city i was with my 2 uncles and my mom's sister and they were just chatting and i laughed so much cause they were so much like my mom(crazy). my mom is so funny when we r talking ,her and my 2 sisters and u were to come in, u'll refuse to believe that she was also in the midst of all the noise. till this day they refuse to eat individually i.e on different plates. when the family is 2gether and u r dishing up you have to use big bowls and take it to the lounge and then u have to go around looking for each one of them telling them to go to the table.

on tv families have u guys noticed how the Mukwevho family in venda is so unhappy and unwelcoming. first question they would ask when u come through the gate is why are you there? i mean i would literally turn and take the taxi back home if u were to ask me that first thing. in my family we are just happy to see you, we dont think for a second you came because u r in trouble or need help untill u tell us.

Talking about family; this topic is one that is very close to my heart. We all have blood famil. Family that will hate us like there is no tomorrow but they are the first to help when you are in trouble. People that call u names when they feel like it, but would murder an outside for repeating those names. Its true what Jarule said "pain is love", one who has neva experienced family love, knows nothing about life. This family loves us for many reasons and one being that "blood is thicker than water" . What about the family that loves u for no reason at all, the family that loves u bcoz u are you. the family that accepts you even if u r a weirdo. Remember there is no blood relation to this family, Most members of this family dont even know your backgroud, ur looks, how much you have in ur bank account, but they love you unconditionally. The family I am talking about is the TVSA family. Nothing and no one can take its place. The love that circulates in this family reaches beyond equillibrium. I am glad I am a member of this family, no family in the world can match this.
