As a sports fanatic I have a reason to celebrate. This weekend was wonderful for all sporting codes in our country.
ATHLETICS
Khotso Mokoena became the first black South African to win a long jump gold medal at the World Indoor Athletics Championship and Mbulaeni Mulaudzi took silver medal. I am proud of you guys
CRICKET
Well done to the Proteas, they won by nine wickets and Graeme Smith led by example and made 103 runs.
SOCCER
Banyana Banyana taught "Mugabe Ladies" a football lesson by pipping them 2 - 0 and that qualified them for the African Women's Championship to be held in Guinea. YOU GO GIRLS and all the best for the championships, I hope you will get past Nigeria this time around.
Finally a win for the "Draw Specialists" Kaizer Chiefs. I was beginning to wonder if the win will ever come. Can't blame Muhsin for uncumo lukablanket (the smile) that was on his face. That win over Free State Stars gave them a breathing space. Another draw will see them kwi relegation again.
Ajax Cape Town is still on top though with Supersport breathing down their necks. Still far from the finish line.
The rest of the results:
Wits 0 Ajax 1
FS Stars 1 Chiefs 4
AmaZulu 0 Cosmos 0
Swallows 0 Thanda 0
P Stars 0 SuperSport 2
Sundowns 0 Celtic 0
Pirates 0 Leopards 0
Santos 3 Arrows
Oh! Before ndilibala, big ups to the Celtic's supporters for fulmitating against the firing of their coach Khabo Zondo. The management fired him for no apparent reason. Now Khabo is back at the helm again. The Supporters have spoken.
Firing coaches in South Africa has become a trend and it has to stop.
RUGBY
Well improved performance by the South African rugby teams. Even the teams that lost, were not humiliated. Congratulations to the Stormers for winning away from home and for playing enterprising rugby. The Sharks are still the best South African team and the Bulls won in a rather scrappy match.
