I have just finished reading Heaven is So Real by Choo Thomas. This is a prophetic book about heaven. The author is a Korean woman who became a born again Christian in 1992 and has since strived to please the Lord. In December 1995 a pastor at her church prophesised over her:“I saw the blessing of the Lord in the realm of prophetic ministry and the Lord opening your spirit in a great way to prophetic ministry, dreams and words of knowledge…I saw the Lord speaking to you in the night seasons, between 11p.m and 3a.m...He will begin to awaken you and visit you, give you dreams, visions and insight...God told me that you’re one of the daughters that He’s put His Spirit upon to prophesy” Author: Choo ThomasChoo talks about a series of visits to heaven (via visions and dreams). The Lord (Jesus) took her to heaven 17 times and twice to hell. In hell she saw her mother, nephew and a few friends suffering. Jesus told her that He could not do anything for them because they did not know him. The Lord chose Choo because since she became born again, she has tried to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. He told her that He wants her to write a book in order to warn His church and the world that He is coming back sooner than people think The Lord said that He is ready and so is His kingdom but He knows that many of his children are not ready. In a typical visit, Choo’s body shakes for 30 – 45 minutes (under the power of the Holy Spirit) and then she is transformed into her heavenly body. She and the Lord then go to various places in heaven. She saw the mansions that were promised to those who will go to heaven as per John 14. She says the streets of heaven are really made with gold, and the mansions she saw are like nothing she’s ever seen here on earth. The Lord emphasised to her that only the pure in heart (obedience to the Word and purity of heart) will enter heaven as per Psalm 24. My take on the book:I really enjoyed the book, especially when she describes heaven and the fascination she has as she discovers various things in heaven. But I was also convicted when she mentioned that the Lord is not happy with Christians who do not tithe, or those who give up quickly on prayers…I am so guilty of this. And when she described the criteria for people who end up in hell it really scared me. There’s a lot of repetition in the book, but she insists that she only repeats stuff because the Lord told them (or showed them) more than once and emphasised that it’s important that she relays them as is.
I must point out that there is a lot of skepticism and critisism about the book and its message. Many people feel Choo is a false prophet and they don't agree with some of the things she says. So like everything i read, i took it with a pinch of salt.
The book also answers questions like:
- Will everyone go to heaven?
- Is heaven a real place?
- What about the rapture?
- What is hell like?
- Does being a "Christian" and saying the believers prayer guarantee a place in heaven?
- Why do people end in hell?- Has each person got a house prepared for them? Some facts about the book:- Foreword by Dr. David Yonggi Cho - He has the largest (800 000 members) church in the world- Visitations started in 1996, the book was published in 2003- Sold over 1m copies- Translated into 43 languages
This review is not doing the book justice; there is so much in it and you just have to read it yourself.
