Wheeeeeww……………… We survived week 4 by the skin of my BROWN VERY TIGHT PINSTRIPE pants…..
Last night's gig was extremely tense, but I'm glad to have gone through it. It just gives you a reality check and let's you up your game.
On the proceeding days, we practiced the Tango bigtime so as to wow the judges with the last final maneouvre that required me to spin 2011 times and place Sarah into the splits, but according to the judges' votes and comments, we clearly did not crack it.
Tyrone - said we need to kick back into 2nd gear and bring it on and be adventurous,
Dave - we have something but that we lacked confidence.
Lillian - said I should not be scared of Sarah and the dance floor 'cos we have the ability to do well.
Salome - she said nothing but gave us a 7 and a WINK*. But when I really needed her vote in the Dance off, she chose Aunty J.
After the votes and comments, we got 23 points and were fast leading from the back.
We had challenges with the pace of the music from the lady who’s Hips Don’t Lie (Shakira). Her version was extremely quick, but we managed to get it, slowed down by the JB Arthur and his amazing band. Thankfully our timing wasn't too bad, but our performance wasn't earth shattering either.
I personally thought the choreography had a little of everything: the basics and the more challenging moves, but still, this wasn't enough to impress “Village People” (The judges Box is called the VILLAGE….. am not slandering anyone!!!!!!!!!!)
Looking at the PVR and doing a self analysis of our Tango - darn, I looked too nervous…. and certainly the Brown pin stripe did me no favours...... the pants were a size too tight therefore making my “not so big butt” look MASSIVE!!!!!!! TV sometime tends to over exaggerate things a little….. or a
lot.
Due to everybody upping their game this week, we found ourselves leading from the rear end of the points ladder and in joint eighth spot with Aunty J. After the viewers’ votes and the Judges votes were tallied up, we all knew who would be in the dance off. After all, Eksteen and Sarah are engaged to be married, therefore it would make good TV if the 2 went head to head.
Being in a Danceoff is certainly one place I don’t want to be in next week. I need to make it past at least 8 weeks ... I have a bet on the go here.
We managed to dance our butts off and beat the James Bond themed routine that Aunty J and Eksteen employed. We were given a life line by the judges and will certainly kick things into 2nd gear now and go flat out!!!!!
………….contrary to what 1 or 2 or maybe 3 people in my blogg believe, Tessa and I are in good spirits. We greeted and hugged as per the other three weeks but as can be expected, It was little awkward and my dearest horse loving sister gave moi some sisterly advise and mentioned that my comments knocked a little close to home for comfort…… to the 1, 2 or 3 people….. please don’t read this out of context!!!!! Hence she had to set the record straight and boy did she!!!!!!! She will be in the finals 4sure and I believe I said this in my earlier blog.
As for the rest of the cast, not everyone had read my blog by Thursday morning but the news spread fast and everyone rushed to their laptops to see what had been said. I guess the big question is whether I will continue talking about others in my blogg or not.
WTH, lets just do it, here goes ...
Brendon aka Sweeney Todd loved the name I had given him and actually complimented me for the piece. He proceeded to tell me his life story and how he got the “Sweeny Todd” look.
Anele - does not know why people are making such a huge fuss about my blog. Her Jungle inspired performance was great, with her Tina Turner aka Jungle Queen look.
I loved the end of their performance, the jive's exhausting!!!
GarthC - all he said was that I was the Cat amongst the Pigeons and throughout the day kept saying “Be careful what you say, it might be on Gugu’s blog next week”.
Couple # 10 woke the house up to the tune of WHAM. As can be expected, the duo had tricks up their sleeves with Hayley’s “under Garment” decorated in shine stones bearing the # 10.
Garth's pants where shiny and certainly were the correct prop for their gig. He looked so much happier doing the Jive than last week’s quickstep which got a low score. According to the big guy it was part of the plan of their BIGGER PICTURE. It worked!!!! For one to go up, you must take two steps backwards. Nice one BIG GUY, but very risky/
Hlubi - bemused by all the excitement over my blog. She and Khutso’s tango was OK according to the judges and thankfully didn't sink like the Titanic. I enjoyed their entrance the most as Khutso got into character and yanked her onto stage….. all a performance ofcourse. Her beautiful family was there with placards bearing couple # 1!! Don’t be surprised if you see VOTE COUPLE #6 on next week's show.
Cindy - before she went onto stage to dance, she fixed her beautiful dress that arrived rather late thanks to JHB traffic, making sure all was well and in the correct position
She proceeded to so say “So my Gugzy,” all the while looking at the mirror, “Do you think my good looks today will get me through tonight’s show”? all with a cheeky look and WINK* which was completed with a big hug. She’s a good sport!!
Their Tango looked good to me, in fact she looked more at home with the Tango than the Rumba of last week. Did you know she is the best One Arm Photographer I know? Check the pictures she took on my facebook profile.
Rob - Rob just gave me a Twakkie look, and kept saying COME ON!!!!!!! COME ON!!!! Their jive was full of energy and certainly a finalist in my books. Mary and him seem never to run out of energy. Loved the way he promoted his show and will certainly be taking some mates to it this weekend.
Adil - my brother thanked me for taking the spotlight away from him, he said its time someone else was the bad boy. He called me other names in his blog so I am told. Robynn and him have really upped the game - to me it seems that Robynn was assessing the competition over the last 3 weeks and is only now coming out of the her shell and bringing it on.
They rocked and even Adil loved the dance. The amazing part is that they learnt their routine in just 5 hrs of training and rehearsal.
Judith - she was laughing her head off and asked why I called her Aunty J on the blog. She says if people start call her Aunty J at her performances and gigs, she will hunt me down and give me a hiding of note!!! It was sad to see her leave, but I guess we all will be walking the same mile at some point in the competition.
The amount of responses to my blog for Week 3 was amazing. We managed to get people talking. There were some firey moments and a little bashing here and there, but in the end, these are my thoughts as the heading suggests and I am just merely sharing my experience on SCD.
I am not here to judge others or make them look bad or insult anyone for that matter, I am just sharing my thoughts, if you don’t like it and feel I am too Spineless, Clumsy with words and a WHIMP, then don’t read the blog!!!!!!!!! Rather visit my fellow cast member’s blogs.
As for predictions for who gets eliminated next week…..I'm not sure, it's now a difficult choice. Myself and Sarah will do our best not to be in that position
But if I had to choose, I would say Cindy and Adil. If I am in the running for elimination, I will just dance my socks off and have a BLAST.
One thing I have realized though is that one's popularity matters in the competition, I am mean if you think of it, Granite was huge during Gladiator days, he was my favorite Gladiator and is certainly easily recognizable. Most of the kids that grew up watch him are now financially OK to lend their votes to couple # 10, hence he will do well in the votes department.
Tessa is a Equestrian competitor with a serious whip. Her sport , just like mine (motorsport) has a small following, hence she depends heavily on her dancing prowess than just votes, hence the scarifies she has made and boy is it paying off!!!
As for me, what can I say, how many people knew of me before SCD? It's certainly given me a great platform to showcase motorsport in generally to the great public and since my presence in SCD, interest in motorsport by black people has been on the up in a bigway. Sadly I can't give more time to SCD than I am at present due to work commitments, but will certainly give it my best shot!!!
Adil and Anele have great platforms - their on radio and have millions of people listening and supporting them, hence their votes should be higher than normal, this besides the fact that brother man pulled some Teakwando last week and the 1st weeks Boo Boo on the dancefloor.
As for Anele, she has the energy and just brings it on and does not forget to have fun in the process.
Cindy - What can I say? Former MISS SA is eye candy galore and certainly enjoys a good following thanks to Pasella who were in attendance last night. She even has Tyrone in a trance like state.
Hlubi can't go wrong, Isidingo has a huge following and everybody just loves her - let's hope she gets over her nerves.
Shugasmackx and Judith also have a huge fan base, but unfortunately, despite all the votes, Shuga’s was the first go home purely because he had had enough and it all went pear shaped in Weej. Aunty survived Week 3 - just!!!!!!.
I hope my clumsy use of the English language does not get me into trouble again, if you have issues with it and don’t like it, overtake and go to the next blog.
Overall, it was an intense evening which sadly started badly for me in a personal capacity - my 1st Lady had a smash and grab en route to the show on the same spot as my mother dearest.
Thankfully it was her passenger window and all they got away with was her Ipod. Dude broke the window and realized there was no bag or anything to steal. He got out but then returned and finally saw the ipod next to the cigarette light. She's OK and her window has already been fixed.
I also understand that Rob’s family member and Garth's sponsor went through the same thing en route to the show.
On a lighter note, Sarah and I are looking for a South African song that we can jam to - any suggestions? I was thinking PUSH PUSH PUSH ISKORORKORO - can't remember the artist though.
Cheers, 'til next week.
