For once I am glad that my prediction was incorrect for had it swung the other way, I would have boycotted the show. My time on SCD had come and gone and it was my turn to walk the line and say Cheriooooooooooo.
Well folks where do I start … having read the official TVSA story on Thursday nights show, I am not sure that the heading suits my exit, yes, I may have crashed out, but I certainly did not burn out.
Upon arrival yesterday I knew something was amiss especially when I got onto stage for my first rehearsal, for some reason, I was so overcome with nerves more that ever before, even making the first step was disaster. Thankfully Sarah was at hand to calm the nerves and remind me of the fun element of SCD. The rest of the afternoon workout went well and we finally got things going.
As for the show, I danced third in the line and personally looking back at the PVR of the show, I was a little tense but I think I did a good rendition of Mr. Bo Jangles.
As for the judges and their comments, eish, what can say, their look on their faces was that of GOOD RIDDANCE, WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU. They couldn't wait to get me out.
Salome who has been in my corner for some time, really tried to put things a nice way, but Dave on the other hand lost the PLOT completely. He said its was the Worst Viennese Waltz he has ever seen. Naturally I don’t agree with this statement and I believe if he was truly not happy with it, he should have just stuck to a NO COMMENT verdict.
His statement was was a spike in my tyre but what he did not realize is that I have RUNFLATS!!!!!!!!! Even Ian was shocked at the comment. Regardless of this, Dave did come to me after the show, he 1st had to fish his way through the numerous people that were congratulating Sarah and I to shake my hand and congratulate me for being a good sport. Yes the words SORRY ABOUT THE COMMENT never made it through his manufactured ivories, but I certainly felt it. It’s ok Dave, after all, its showmanship!
Having never watched the show previously, I was not aware of what I had gotten myself into when I signed on the dotted line. All I know is that this was my opportunity of presenting to SA, GUGU ZULU and MOTORSPORT and I believe I have done just that.
My profile has certainly gained a lot of browny points which I hope in time will lead to $$$$$$$$$$$$ in sponsorship so I can eventually get to race at the Le Mans 24hr Race. More importantly, I have overcome a fear that had always haunted me, DANCING IN PUBLIC.
Doing SCD has certainly put a tick on my TO DO LIST and I am great full for the opportunity. Instead of nodding my head to a tune, I can now dance either the Rumba, Paso Doble, Waltz, Viennese Waltz and the Tango. I am glad that I made through the half way mark of Season 5.
I would like to take this opportunity in thanking all @ Rapid Blue for inviting me to participate in SCD5. I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment and will forever cherish the experience. To the PR team, Camera Crews, production teams, catering staff, security escorts and even Fox Trot (Dog picked up by the Gentle Giant), thank you for everything. To all the Virgin Active Gyms and more importantly Footnotes who became my 2nd home for the past 2 months, a big thank you.
To TVSA - TV AUTHORITY OF SOUTH AFRICA - thank you for reading my blogs and encouraging me to do well in the show. Sadly the spotlight on me has shrunk, but I will never forget the experience. You have certainly awakened a different skill in me that I never thought I had, BLOGGING!!!!!!
Thanks for the names, thanks for taking the time to read through my blogs. To those that did not like what I wrote, or my thoughts, eish ... you missed the point. It was all about fun and sharing thought!!!!
To my motorsport fraternity, friends and family, thank you for your support during my time on SCD.
To my 1st lady ... can't wait to do the RUMBA with U!!!!!
On a final note, Sarah Cooper, her journey on SCD has been filled with a lot of ups and downs. It certainly has not been an easy period for her seeing that SCD painted her in a slightly negative picture with her rantings, ravings and whipping of her pretty face in utter anger and perhaps disappointment….. certainly did not draw her fans…………and truth be told, reality TV does not lie.
Having said that, I must shout it out loud to all my supporters, friends and family who thought I had a witch of partner ... YOU ARE VERY WRONG!!!!!!!. SARAH is an amazing dancer and what was portrayed on TV was only 5% of what really happened during the rehearsals.
The 95% that you didn’t see on TV is that that Sarah is a great dancer full of energy bursting out of the seems, she is a shy around the cameras and large crowds but put her on the dance floor, she SHINES like the STAR SHE is. She loves to giggle and cant wait to be MRS MIAMI VICE aka EKSTEEN TROUT.
She is a highly emotional person with a lot of drive and will to win at what ever cost and has a sneeze that sounds like cough. I would like to say thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for time you have scarified to do this show, I could not have asked for anyone else. Having said that, the experience that Sarah gained on SCD will boost well for her in the future and I wish her all the best that life has to offer.
It is a great pity SCD did not showcase me teaching SARAH how to whistle, I can openly now say she now CAN!!!!!!!!!!
To all my fellow cast members, our bus trip is nearing its final destination, this week, it was my turn to step out, I wish you all the best and may the best couple win. I wonder which passengers will get off next. It’s been a great ride.
As in the words of PORKY PIG (one of my favourite cartoon characters)
