The Bennets, the Bishops, Mohinder and West

The Bennets are packing when Claire comes downstairs dressed in her cheerleading outfit. HRG tells them they're leaving that day, but Claire says she's not leaving.

Claire and HRG argue, and she brings up his past, saying that he abducted West. HRG threatens to tie Claire up, but Sandra steps in and calms things down.

Sandra tells Claire to go to school, say goodbye to her friends and then return home in time for them to leave that night. Claire leaves, but not before telling HRG that she hates him.

Mohinder meets Bob at a hotel and is introduced to his new partner, who is Elle. Bob asks Elle if she's been working on her sharpshooting, and she demonstrates that she has by using her power to destroy a nearby glass.

Claire lays out rocks in a pattern and West lands and asks her what she's up to. Claire tells him that her father being the man who abducted West was just a coincidence, and West replies that he wants to believe her, but he doesn't. He flies away, and we see that Claire was laying out rocks to form the word “sorry”.

At the Bennets' house, HRG confirms to Sandra that he did indeed abduct West. He then shows her some of the other paintings that he found, including one of Claire lying on the steps, which was the one we never got to see clearly.

He also shows her the pictures of him lying dead and the one of Mohinder firing a gun. In answer to Sandra's question, HRG says that he doesn't think Mohinder is firing at him, as Mohinder is one of the good guys. That means that there is absolutely no way HRG will be shot by Mohinder at any point in this episode.

HRG also says that he needs to find West as he's the reason Claire won't leave town and phones Mohinder to ask him to get Molly to find West. After the phone call has ended, Mohinder suggests to Elle and Bob that they give HRG a false location in order to get him away from Claire.

Elle thinks it's a bad idea, but Mohinder says that they either do it his way or he tells HRG everything. Bob reluctantly agrees, and Elle hands Mohinder a gun.

HRG prepares to leave the house. Sandra asks him where he's going, and he replies that he can't just sit around and he's going to go to the school and look for West. He steps out of the door, and West flies down and grabs hold of him.

As they fly up, West asks HRG if Claire was working with him. HRG says that Claire to him and never even mentioned West, so he thinks West must be pretty important to her.

West lands, and HRG is able to overpower him. He tells West that they're leaving town and he needs West to convince Claire that it's the right thing to do.

While HRG has West pinned to the ground, Mohinder phones him with West's location. However, it's a different place from where HRG and West currently are. HRG lets go of West, saying that Claire's in danger and he needs West's help.

At cheerleading practice, Claire's coach tells her that someone from the Education Commission wants to see her. That someone is Bob, who claims that he's investigating the incident with Debbie. Bob calls her by her real name and Claire runs off, realising that something's wrong.

Elle and Mohinder wait for HRG, and Mohinder says he should speak to HRG alone first. HRG pulls up in his car and Mohinder gets in the back. He tells HRG that he's sorry for lying to him, but he needs to listen.

Mohinder asks HRG to give them Claire, saying that they need her blood. HRG's response is that Mohinder has gone native, which I'm not sure is the most politically correct phrase to use to someone of Mohinder's ancestry.

HRG refuses, saying that Mohinder has been indoctrinated. Mohinder pulls out his gun and tells HRG to start driving. Although we know HRG is safe as there's absolutely no way Mohinder will shoot him.

Claire arrives home, looking for her parents. Initially she doesn't find anyone, but she catches sight of the picture of a dead HRG on the computer.

She finds Sandra and tells her that someone came to school who knows their real name. Claire asks Sandra about the painting, but she is answered by Bob, who enters the house, holding a gun.

HRG drives Mohinder to a deserted location and they get out of the car. HRG asks Mohinder who his partner is, saying that it's Company policy to have “one of them and one of us”.

Elle appears and starts walking towards HRG, but she notices that he's not looking at her, but rather something behind her. That something is West, who flies down and knocks Elle to the ground.

Mohinder points his gun at HRG, in an identical pose to the painting, but we know that there's absolutely no way that Mohinder will shoot him. HRG disarms Mohinder and points the gun at him. He appears to be on the verge of shooting Mohinder, but doesn't go through with it after West asks him what he doing.

HRG returns home to find Sandra tied up. She tells him that Bob took Claire, and HRG says that he'll get her back as he has collateral. West enters at that point, carrying Elle over his shoulder, and HRG asks if Sandra packed Mr Muggles' doggy bath, which once again proves that Mr Muggles is the key to whole thing.

HRG ties up Elle and places her feet in the doggy bath, and then wakes her up by spraying her with a hose. HRG tells Elle that he needs to speak to her father, and her response is to try and shock him. However, due to her being soaked and her feet in the water-filled bath, she's the one who ends up being shocked.

HRG tells Elle that he was there when they brought Elle in and that she was normal when they brought her in. Elle says that her father would never have allowed it, and HRG says that he was the one leading the charge.

Elle says that she has no memory of it, and HRG comments that it's like someone took it away. He says that the reason he kept Claire away from the Company was to prevent her from becoming like Elle. He tells her that he wants to talk to her father, and when she replies that he might not want to make a deal, HRG says that she'd be surprised what a father will do for his daughter.

Bob's phone rings and he answers it, thinking it's Elle. It's actually HRG, and he sets up a trade.

After Bob hands up, Claire says that she'll do anything. When Bob says that Claire's blood could be helpful, she says that he can take as much as he wants as long as they leave her father alone. Bob sticks a needle in Claire's arm and begins to take her blood.

HRG tells West to go home, but West says that he's going to help, as he's quickest way to get Claire out of there. West goes out to the while HRG arms himself. Sandra comments that girls tend to pick boys like their fathers, and all West cares about is helping Claire.

Bob, Mohinder, and Claire arrive at the meeting place after HRG, West, and Elle, and Claire and Elle begin to walk back to their respective fathers. Claire reaches HRG and they hug, and then West takes hold of Claire and begins to fly away with her.

They don't get very far, as Elle turns around and fires a bolt of electricity at West. It hits him and he and Claire plummet to the ground. Fortunately West is top of Claire, so she absorbs most of the impact when they hit.

HRG shoots Elle in the arm and she goes down. Bob runs to her aid and HRG walks up to the two of them. He points his gun at Bob, saying that if Bob dies then the Company dies with him.

HRG cocks his gun and then there's the sound of a gunshot. But it's not because of HRG shooting Bob, but rather Mohinder shooting HRG. I guess I was wrong about there being absolutely no way Mohinder would shoot HRG.

HRG falls to ground, Mohinder having shot him in the eye, and we get to see the fulfilment of the last of Isaac's paintings. Or at least hopefully it's the last of his paintings as for there to be any more would be stretching credibility a little too much, even for this show.

West flies Claire home and she tells him that the last thing she ever said to her father was that she hated him. That's not that surprising though, as I can't remember when the last time I saw one character tell another that they hated them and that character lived. Sometimes it seems like saying “I hate you” is a guaranteed death sentence, kind of like the way that having sex will get you killed in a horror movie.

Claire tells Sandra about HRG's death and she falls to her knees and starts crying. Although we don't actually hear what Claire said to Sandra, so it might have been that she forgot to take Mr Muggles for a walk, but it was probably about HRG.

Matt

In Mohinder's flat, Matt looks at the photograph of the Company's founders. Molly comes in and Matt gets her some cereal.

She asks him about the picture, and says that she can help Matt find the people in the photo. Matt says he's not going to ask her to use her power, and that he just wants her to be a normal girl.

Matt and Molly hug, and Matt “says” in his mind that Molly should do it just for him. Molly agrees to this.

Matt looks a bit puzzled, so presumably the thought projection happened by accident. Molly walks away, but Matt projects his thoughts and tells her to come back and finished her cereal, which she does.

At work, Matt is on the phone trying to get information on the photograph when his partner comes up to his desk. He tells Matt that the case is closed since Angela confessed.

Matt asks for more time, but his partner refuses. Matt then projects a thought asking for twenty-four hours, which his partner agrees to.

Matt visits Angela and commands her via his thoughts to answer all his questions truthfully. Matt asks who really killed Kaito and Angela tells him that it was Adam.

In response to further questions, Angela tells Matt that they locked Adam up thirty years earlier as he was dangerous. She doesn't know where he is now, just that he wants revenge and won't stop until all of them are dead.

Matt says that all of them are dead, with the exception of Angela, Bob, Maury and a woman in the photograph who he hasn't been able to identify. Angela tries to resist Matt's command that she tell him who the woman is.

Angela's nose begins to bleed, which is a clear sign of psychic distress, and she tells Matt that all the woman wants is to be left alone. Angela made a promise to keep her location secret, and if Matt takes that from her then he's not just like his father, he is his father.

Hiro and Kaito

At Kaito's funeral, Hiro is called upon to give a eulogy. He walks up to the podium but then walks away without saying anything.

Ando asks Hiro if he's all right, and Hiro replies that he came back too late and they don't even know who killed Kaito. Ando tries to convince him to go back and make the eulogy, but Hiro says that if does then it means that he would be accepting that Kaito is gone, and he's not prepared to do that yet. He then teleports to the rooftop of the Deveaux building one earlier.

Hiro watches Kaito and Angela discuss their death threats, and then he reveals himself to Kaito. He tells Kaito about his time in Japan, and then tells Kaito that he's going to die that night.

Kaito says that it is his fate, but Hiro refuses to accept it. He says that Kaito felt the same way once, and that he'll show him. Hiro puts his hand on Kaito's shoulder and teleports the two of them away.

They emerge at the cemetery Hiro had left, but seventeen years earlier, at the funeral of Hiro's mother. Kaito asks why Hiro has done this, and Hiro replies that Kaito needs to feel his pain in order to understand why Hiro must save his father.

Kaito says that it was the saddest day of his life, but it doesn't change anything. He demands to be taken back, but Hiro walks off.

He encounters his younger self, who is pretending to be Takezo Kensei. They talk for a while, and younger Hiro says that he won't let his father die, to which older Hiro says that there are some things even Takezo Kensei can't change, and they can't play God.

Older Hiro returns to Kaito and apologises, saying that Kaito was right. The two of them pay their respects and then Hiro returns them to the Deveaux building. Kaito comments that he's never travelled in time before, and I just can't buy those words coming from the man who played Sulu.

The two of them say goodbye, and then Hiro hides as Kaito waits for his murderer. Kaito's attacker pushed him over the edge, but not before Hiro has stopped time. He walks over to Kaito's assailant and discovers that it's Adam Monroe, a.k.a. Takezo Kensei.

Hiro returns to Kaito's funeral and addresses the mourners. He says that he refuses to give a eulogy because that would be admitting that his father is dead. Kaito taught Hiro right from wrong and what it means to be a hero, so as long as the lessons live on through Hiro, Kaito will never die.

Closing montage

As Hiro gives his eulogy we see Mohinder sitting in a var staring at his gun, Bob trying to comfort Elle and being shrugged off, Matt looking at the photograph where the unknown woman as now been labelled “Victoria Pratt”, Hiro at his father's tombstone, and Sandra and Claire being comforted by Mr Muggles and West respectively.

Hiro finishes speaking and we see an IV drip with blood in it. The camera follows the IV tube and we see that the blood is being administered to HRG.

HRG isn't wearing a shirt, and I suppose that's because Peter doesn't appear in this episode and they had to get a shirtless scene in somewhere. But that's not important. What's important is that HRG's eye heals and he wakes up, very much alive.

Awesome episode, although I hated the fact that they established that they can bring anyone back to life with Claire's blood.  Will nobody on this show ever stay dead?
