God knows I hesitated from this morning to post this article because I thought this feeling will go away.
My sister in law couldn’t wait get to my house and so she decided to call me on her way to share her frustration on the Jacob Zuma/Rhema drama yesterday. Well obviously me after the Carl Niehaus R700 000 and Rhema I just sort of like been slightly off it and I didn’t care much. But yesterday was just a wake up call because I realized that somehow I am affected by this whole thing (Im not sure why and how?) But anyway I m church hunting. Any ideas???
And so I stumbled onto this article this morning:
Cape Town - Some News24 Users find Jacob Zuma's appearance at the Rhema Bible Church in bad taste, while others can't see what the bid deal is. Read their comments below and have your say on this issue.
Dear Editor,
I'm still reeling from the shock of seeing Jacob Zuma campaigning at the Rhema church at the weekend. I can't think of anything more distasteful than seeing a politician promoting his own agenda in what is meant to be a House of God. Christians, Jews and Muslims all worship the same God and I'm sure all of those faiths would agree with me that this is an abomination.
For those who don't believe in God and won't understand my outrage I can liken it to this: if you're an ANC supporter this would be like Helen Zille promoting the DA at an ANC rally.
But my issue today isn't with Jacob Zuma, it's with Ray McCauley. For someone who claims to be a servant of God, he has been setting a poor example of late. There was the scandal surrounding the loan from the Rhema church to Carl Niehaus which first made me question the Rhema church.
First, what is a church doing lending out money and second, how is it able to lend out such a large amount to one individual? The sight of Ray then shaking Zuma's hand and ushering him to the pulpit was the final straw for me.
Ray McCauley should be strongly rebuked for what he has done. Perhaps Pastor Ray would like to go back and take another look at the bible and read what Jesus said in Mark (11:17) to the religious leaders after he chased the money lenders out of the temple: "Hath it not been written - My house a house of prayer shall be called for all the nations, and ye did make it a den of robbers?"
