MOVIE HIGHLIGHTS
BeetlejuiceOn: Sunday, 12 April 2009 at 20h30
In director Tim Burton’s comedy Beetlejuice, happily married couple Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara Maitland (Geena Davis) decide to decorate their idyllic New England home over the holidays.
Returning from a trip to town their car plunges into a river and they suddenly find themselves back at their house. With the help of the “Handbook for the Recently Deceased” they discover they are now ghosts, permitted to remain in their home but unable to leave it for 125 years.
This new existence is further complicated when the house is sold to the Deetzes, who arrive with their Goth daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) in tow.
When the Maitlands' attempts to scare the yuppie owners from their dream home prove ineffective, they enlist the help of freelance bio-exorcist Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton), who soon proves to be more of a hindrance than a help. (1988)
The Truman ShowOn: 29 April 2009 at 20h30
Every second of every day, from the moment he was born, Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) has been the unwitting star of The Truman Show, the most popular and longest-running reality-soap opera in history, televised 24/7 to billions across the globe.
By degrees, he begins to discover that his picture-perfect home town of Seahaven is actually a gigantic soundstage and everyone involved in his life are actors. Unfortunately for Truman, discovering the truth is only the beginning. Now he must grapple with the god-like powers behind the scenes - including the show’s creator, Christof (Ed Harris).
Also starring Laura Linney, Noah Emmerich and Natascha McElhone, The Truman Show won three Golden Globe® Awards, including Best Actor for Jim Carrey and Best Supporting Actor for Ed Harris. Directed by Peter Weir (Dead Poet’s Society, Master and Commander), 1998.
