as for COPE, theyve started on a very bad note ,only at 8%.  But like everyone keeps reminding us,its still early days,we should know by tomorrow more or less what the final result will look like.So they may go beyond 10 % and hopefully DA will go up to 30%
But the great news is that there was no serious violence, shame on the IEC for not preparing well and at long last the small (lanyana parties) such as ID, AZAPO, PAC,UDM, NADECO arent garning enough votes.its about time the small parties clear the field

Elections are the only times that South Africans are given an opportunity to show their level of intelligence, ability to think and make a logical decision.

About 90% of SA population is still uneducated, why I say this is because the IEC has rules that you do not wear a party t-shirt when going to vote but I saw a dozen wearing t-shirts of a certain party.

Next to the voting station there was also a guy who was playing Mshini wami on his hi-fi full blast for the whole day, I was also not satisfied with the quality of people who were on the queu:

There was also a majority of those young unemployed dropped-out of school women who are receiving grant for having kids, surely you don't expect this type to make an informed decision except to use the vagina when making a decison.

Since education is free now I don't foresee an educated person in the next 20 years or so, I really think there should be a minimum academic qualification in order to vote.

*These are my opinions and not facts, they do not represent the views of the company I am working for, my company and professional bodies which I am a member of*

True, she's gatvol about something...
She need to take it easy though, im bit worried about her getting heart attacks though...
Bytheway:
Rumor has it that:
DA, COPE, ID...etc are to hold "post mortems" after poll.
While ANC promised "the best of the best victory parties ever seen".

COPE is so bankrupt that they are organizing a BRING & BRAAI.

ROTFLMAO

Fact of the matter is that we have a choice - to live in a global economy which means that we are influenced by what goes on all over the world and their opinions of us, whether we like or agree with them or not; or to become insular and isolated and have to rely on your own economy for all your needs like Zimbabwe. If you want overseas investment in your country, you had better sit up and take notice of what they think. They owe us nothing and can quite easily put their money where they want and we will have to live with the consequences.

As for the comment you just merant about girls making decisions using their vagina, now that is just uncalled for  for your info if voting was for the educated , then why grannies and grandpa's vote?? please excersize your right adequentely not being diminutive to people less fortunate then you are and no education is not free everwhere so think before you talk absolute rubbish...you just a shovenist pig who has no sense of morals watso ever let alone sensitiviy... and everyone is free to vote regardless of their merits, sex or creed so you just shut the hell up if you know whats good for you... if you have sucvh a problem with uneducayed people stand up and make a difference because insulting them does not do them  nor you any justice

And there was many encores lol because imbali is mainly ANC so the IFP was a major turn off lol but hey it was freedom of expression on both sides

Pretoria - More than three million votes had been counted in the national elections by 08:30 on Thursday morning.

The results, which put the ruling African National Congress in a commanding lead with 2 078 352 votes, were released at the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) centre in Pretoria.

One and Only
23 Apr 2009 10:55

See what I'm talking about? When someone says something you don't agree with you always lose control and start fighting which makes you even worse than the person who uttered those comments.

South Africa still has a long way to go when it comes to politics and people need to be educated regarding this subject. Voting is not all about putting down a cross on the ballot but you need to know the implications of choosing one party from the other.

You need to know things about the supply and demand etc in order to understand the economy. With that in mind i still say in 20yrs to come matric should be a minimum requirement for voters since education is free in SA. This will apply to the individuals born after 94 as there won't be any excuse for them to not to go to school.

My grandmother, mother and father never went to school and they are very intelligent but I do not expect them to send me sms, chat on mxit and so on. If I look down on uneducated people I will be looking down on myself because I am born by them.

I do not expect a girl of 17 with 3 kids/ guy of the same age smoking dagga to make an informed decision. These people are parasites, they are stealing money from me through tax.

Angelic Smile thank you for your feedback and I don't know why you are fighting because I am not. If I have offended you in anyway I do apologise but if the shoe fits wear it.

i'm glad that you clarified that these are your opinions and not facts, because had you checked your facts, you would know that the IEC actually gave ago ahead for people to wear their party's regalia on election day....

I was also not satisfied with the quality of people who were on the queu

i wish you could elaborate more on what you mean when you say the quality...south africans, just like you- have the constitutional right to vote, be it they are uneducated, pregnant, or dont have the "correct" look....

just when i thought  i had figured you out and when i was actually starting to respect you (not that my respect is of any importance to you, of course) you go and write something that is nonsensical like this...

now i see what odl people mean when they say that education without wisdom is a waste....

you'd be suprised to find that all these uneducated people that you have been bashing since the beginning of the week might teach you a thing or two...

ehhe nakhoke okukhulu ifn the shoe fits???? uyabonake this is wat makes me so mad for starters I didnt say im uneducated infact here are my qualifications
1. Passed my so called minimum requirement for voting (matric) with four Distictions if I must say and I am studying Law at the moment so Im educated enough for my age and may I ask how old was your mother when she gave birth to you ?
Secondly I do not have a child therefore your tax aint coming to me so I dont owe you anything so you stop being bitter about your pay check you not the only one whos contributing to tax many people are and you dont see them crying about it..
Thirdly they will vote whether you like it or not and whatever decision they make is entirely theirs not yours to distinguish if it is an informed one or not....
Quiet frankly what Im saying is dont look down on uneducated people whether they choose to or not, and in regard to the comments you made you were insulting them...

But like my mother, whom does not have a matric certificate and proud to say voted with me yesterday, would say '' NEVER AGUE WITH A FOOL BECAUSE SOMEONE ON THE SIDELINE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DISTINGUISH WHO IS THE FOOL AND WHO IS NOT !!!'' So you can show off all you like and quiet frankly you are insulting yourself and your own family because Im sure in your family you have a teenage mum

what has education to do with who i vote into power? I dont get this argument.
How does the educated vote change who gets votes (note the absence of into power)?

Let's just play our this scenario of educated voters going to the polls and the results are:

anc- 60
da- 20
cope- 10
dikwankwetla- 5
id-3
nvp- 2

what are we sayin about people that have voted elsewhere other than where people assume intelligent people will vote, given that all of them have matric?

I'm more interested on who the official opposition party will be, must say Cope is doing rather well for a new party, maybe the smaller parties should just merge and become one strong opposition and perhaps eliminate DA, but thats highly unlikely becos they are rulled by tribalism and their leaders are just too power hungry.

Cande you are right I have accepted the defeat but I do not belong to any political party I voted for what I think is best for SA which is currently DA and COPE but since COPE is relatively new I have choosen DA with the hope of it being strong opposition.

Voting for the party that Angelic Smile voted for would undermine mine reasoning, the same goes for the people I have mentioned as we do not vote based on the same facts. I have always chosen the road less travelled I'm not swallows I reason before making a decision.

Babygirl quit law as you will be a sorry excuse of a lawyer, if you cannot handle a simple debate without being emotional and throwing tantrum what would you do in a court room? Without letting someone on the sideline decide who is the fool between you and me, I would take the title of being a fool and you being clever.

So if you could get off your high horse for a moment and admit you were wrong that would be rather wise of you... ANC to host election party
23/04/2009 10:42

Johannesburg - The ANC will on Thursday host an election party to thank South Africans for casting their votes in the fourth democratic elections, it said.
"As part of celebrating ANC's performance, the organisation will this afternoon host an election party in the area of the Library Gardens in Johannesburg."
Motorists were advised that there would be official road closures from 13:00.
Sauer Street will be closed between Commissioner and Jeppe Streets and President Street will also closed between Ntemi Piliso and Harrison Streets.
According to partial results from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) centre in Pretoria, the ANC was in a commanding lead with 2 078 352 votes, followed by the Democratic Alliance at 636 637 votes and the Congress of the People in third place with 251 200 votes.

You must never......What makes you think you are superiour just because you got educated? The way you think of other people is so horrific
I know you said these are your oppinions but to insult other people just because some were too poor to even get matric you talk about is just low even for you
The grants you are going on about  help a lot of households in SA. Even t send those poor children too get your precious matric.
Would you rather your taxes kept some criminal warm and fed in jail rather than helping someone in need? I would have you know you do not measure intelligence by education the fact that you think that proves my point.

I was also not satisfied with the quality of people who were on the queu

i wish you could elaborate more on what you mean when you say the quality...south africans, just like you- have the constitutional right to vote, be it they are uneducated, pregnant, or dont have the "correct" look....

just when i thought  i had figured you out and when i was actually starting to respect you (not that my respect is of any importance to you, of course) you go and write something that is nonsensical like this...

now i see what odl people mean when they say that education without wisdom is a waste....

ehhe nakhoke okukhulu ifn the shoe fits???? uyabonake this is wat makes me so mad for starters I didnt say im uneducated infact here are my qualifications

Yena yadwa you mean just because my mother ho raised me and made me into the person I am today should not be allowed to vote just because she only had JC grade 9 in todays language.
I would have you know you do not measure intelligence by education the fact that you think that proves my point.

well done ANC, the masses have spoken.

the lives of poor people aren't going to change at least for now, which is sad while you and I might be in a much better position because of reasons known to us.

this white guy was saying that the very same people who voted because of job promises and all are the very same ones who will be knocking at his door looking for a job not at the politicians who promised them jobs.

my prayer is that the ANC will step up its game and offer people basic services because surely the masses have faith in them, as to how long this faith will last only God knows.  The one thing that really scares me is that this is the same faith that the people of Zim had on Mugabe and look at where they r today.

let us all accept the outcome even though it might not be favorable to most people, and hope for the next five years things will only get better.

the world we'll be watching us very closely

well done ANC, the masses have spoken.

the lives of poor people aren't going to change at least for now, which is sad while you and I might be in a much better position because of reasons known to us.

this white guy was saying that the very same people who voted because of job promises and all are the very same ones who will be knocking at his door looking for a job not at the politicians who promised them jobs.

my prayer is that the ANC will step up its game and offer people basic services because surely the masses have faith in them, as to how long this faith will last only God knows.  The one thing that really scares me is that this is the same faith that the people of Zim had on Mugabe and look at where they r today.

let us all accept the outcome even though it might not be favorable to most people, and hope for the next five years things will only get better.

I think they are not comparing JZ to Mugabe, i think the point they are trying to make is that the loyalty that most SA ns have FOR ANC is the same loyalty that the people of ZIM had for Zanu PF. they kept voting it in power even when it was taking them for a ride.

Alexino
23 Apr 2009 15:49

This is a good situation for our country.  Our country is growing in the sense that we are now focusing our vote on lesser parties and this is a move to more competition in government.

The ANC know that its no longer simply a question of pitching up, they have to deliver to make up for the loss vote, some going to COPE.

What does this mean going forward?  Well over the next 5 years we will take a look at the Western Cape in comparison to other provinces run in South Africa.  If the DA perform well at provincial level the country will take notice.  Its up to the ANC to put aside its internal differences and controversial policies and get down to what the people need.

@ Toxic

Thats a good question, and interesting to find out. However imagine this situation.. the DA want to prove to us all that they can govern and are a good alternative to the ruling party.

This could only translate into delivery for the people.  Looking at the crime stats in Cape Town metro for example we see it has dropped by 90%.

Conversely on the ANC side.. they will want to get back to winning ways in the province and subsequently all over the country.  They will have to up their game as well to also keep COPE at bay.

Interesting times indeed.

why is everyone interested gore who voted for who. guys you might never know maybe Mandela voted for an opposition party.
well done COPE, it shows that there are people who have hope.
loyalty is what counts, there are people who vote for anc because they associate it with the apartheid. in africa i believe people vote for the party not the individual. for the next coming elections,  i will be voting for opposition because in my country we need the guy to keep the government at its toes.

Alexino
