Episode 504
The Little Prince

Jin is alive! Jin is alive! Jin is alive! All day through, I’ve been doing a pathetic attempt at a Running Man because Jin is alive. It’s the best news I’ve received all season! Jin’s alive. Jin’s alive. Ok, enough with the sad running man now.

This was a pretty good episode, even if it was a Kate-centric episode.

Let’s see… off the island and three years after they are ‘rescued’, Kate approaches the lawyer who asked for a bllod sample from her and Aaron. She asks him who his client is; he doesn’t tell her. She follows him (with Jack in tow) and the lawyer leads them to Claire’s mum. But surprise, surprise, Claire’s mum knows nothing about anything.

Meanwhile, Sayid and Ben are going to get Hurley out of prison. They meet up with Kate’s DNA lawyer who says that there’s no evidence against Hurley. They eventually meet up with Kate and Jack. Sun’s observing them in the distance and it seems like she wants to kill Ben. Meanwhile, Kate accuses Ben of being the one who is filing this lawsuit; and he acknowledges this.

On the island, things are far more interesting. Charlotte manages to regain consciousness, and they all head off to the beach camp. On the way (it’s at night), they see a beam of light shooting up into the sky. Locke immediately realizes when they are.

They hear screams in the jungle and Sawyer goes of to investigate despite Locke’s warnings not to. He comes across Claire and Kate on the night that Claire gives birth to Aaron. They jump. It’s now day and they set off toward the beach. But Miles is now also experiencing nosebleeds.

At the beach, they find their abandoned camp, and they find mysterious water bottles belonging to Ajira Airlines. The Zodiac is missing, and its place is a canoe. They hop into the canoe and head for the Orchid hatch. They are attacked by the future Others (?) and the jump again. They make shore but Juliet is now experiencing nosebleeds too.

Meanwhile, in the same storm that’s raging, there’s a group of people (French!!!) on a raft. They rescue someone from the ocean. It’s Jin!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jin’s rescuers turn out to be a very young and pregnant Danielle Rousseau and her fellow crew members.

This is getting interesting. Not that it wasn’t before, but now that the Losties can actually encounter their previous selves puts a whole new spin on things. They obviously keep to themselves though, because they have never come across themselves before.

I suppose, however, like with Sawyer encountering Claire and Kate it will provide some very endearing and telling scenes. Personally, I can’t wait to see how this plays out.

Key points from this episode

• Ajira Airlines now enter the picture. Either another plane has crashed on the island or they are the new Dharma. It seems that this island can never just lie there in peace.
• The nosebleeds that Charlotte, Miles and Juliet experience are, according to Daniel directly proportionate to how long you have been on the island. Charlotte was born on the island, and if you buy the theory that Miles is Marvin Candle’s son, then it’s self explanatory why he’s getting nosebleeds too. It stands to reason that our Losties will be next.
• Jin is alive and has now come across Danielle and her husband. I would think that this is the first of his experiences of jumping. Either he’s been unconscious through it all or he just didn’t realize what had been going on. I can’t imagine what must be running through his head.

Speaking of things running through heads, Danielle doesn’t seem to remember that she met Jin at all. But then again, Danielle was pretty much a crazy woman by the time Flight 815 crashed, and she had been through so much, it’s unlikely that she did remember Jin.

• We now know that Locke intends turning the FDW and leaving the island. One has to wonder how that would affect an already volatile island. Do the jumps get worse? Cease? Increase?
• Ben is behind the attempt to get Aaron. Surprisingly, he’s admitted it. I suppose that he realizes that they are running out of time and he needs to get them to the island as soon as possible.
• Is Ben also behind the attempts to get Sayid? That would explain the tranquilizers.

Hmm. Not much going on in terms of new happenings. It’s just really interesting to see how our Losties are trying to survive and all that happens. I’m still wondering where the “bad thing” that happen are going to fit in. Ben says that bad things happened when the six left the island. Is he referring to this time jumps? Or is he referring to something else??

Apologies for the short length and lack of detail in this article. Circumstances just prevent something more substantial. Still, everyone’s raving about next week’s episode. Let’s hope it lives up to the hype.

Questions Answered this week

• Jin’s alive!
• Ben is behind the attempt to get Aaron from Claire.

New Questions

• What is Ajira Airlines and what are they doing on the island – if that is indeed people from the airlines.
• What’s going on with the nosebleeds?

Trivia (from this site)

• Both Claire Littleton and Danielle Rousseau crashed on the Island in the seventh months of their pregnancies, and they also both gave birth on the Island only to have tragic circumstances happen to them that led to others raising their children.
• Sun's surveillance report is partly legible. The report is from a Lost unrelated online game; it is therefore doubtful that Lee Chin or Melissa (both referenced on the report) will figure prominently in future episodes.
• The name on the side of Ben's van, "Canton Rainier" is an anagram of "reincarnation."

>>Charlotte was born on the island<<

Has this been confirmed?  It don't remember it being mentioned (although that doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't ;) ).

Is everyone REALLY raving about next weeks episode?  Wow I thought I was the only one...

Being a Lostie.. I really enjoyed it, it has great story content and is for me the peak in the early episodes of Lost 5.  You will be impressed IMO.

Regarding Charlotte.  Yeah... it would be interesting to find out if she was born on the island.. and in doing so defying what Juliet has come to experience in three years.

And good solid questions there...  I guess the Lost Chronicles do keep you more in touch with the finer detail of the show.

Finally... your blind hate for Kate and Jack is something to behold LOL.

I'm worried about the camp being raided and by whom, and in which time that was.

You forgot to mention that Vincent got a mention in this episode.

True.. Vincent is another interesting issue altogether..
I mean what exactly is up with him.. or better yet WHEN LAST did we see him.

I think he was there in the flaming arrow attack.

Good point.  Somewhere, someone mentioned it and because it suits (a lot of) us, we've taken it for granted that it's fact.  I do remember Miles saying something to her about it though.

She implied it herself, in last season's finale.
