A new season of Channel O's Emcee reality search Emcee Africa premieres this Sunday night (17 May 2009) at 19h00.
Hosted by Lee Kasumba and Reason, the 13-episode season debuts with a recap of the first season's action. It also introduces new additions to the format including a self-penned piece that entrants perform at auditions, as well a new beat improvisation segment called "Step up to the mic".
Thereafter the show kicks off the audition phase of the competition which starts in South Africa, feat. judges HHP, Zubz and Nthabi. The search continues through Botswana, Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya and culminates in a Top 10.
The Top 10 will then get out-hip hopped to a Top 5 and the Top 5 will do beat battle for the win.
The prize: $10 000 and a collaboration track with a Hip Hop artist. There's no news as to who this will be, probably the artist most suited to the winner's style.
There's also a viewer's competition running in conjunction with the show: every Friday a question will be asked about the upcoming Sunday night show on O-Boma (between 15h00 and 17h00).
Once the Sunday night episode has been on you can answer the question during the week by sending the answer, your name and contact details to
channelo@mnet.co.za.
The winner for the week will be announced live on O-Boma each Friday when a new question will be asked. The weekly prize: an Mi phone as well as a Baby Phat and Baby Farm goodie bag valued at R1500.
Channel O is on DStv Channel 330. The show runs weekly at 19h00.
