Today (25 May 2009) marks the 46th celebration of Africa Day - a day which commemorates the creation of the Organisation of African Unity (which changed to the African Union.)
The day is set aside to honour togetherness, African culture and unified development across the African continent.
Channel O's putting the spotlight on all this today with three 30-minute special O Xpress programmes, designed to showcase the best contemporary music unearthed in Africa.
Broadcast times for these are: 06h30, 17h00 and 20h30.
Also in the line-up: the premiere of a new show called Channel O Shoutouts - an interactive show which viewers can chat with and send shoutouts to. During each show viewers can send their thoughts about Africa, express what it means to be African, spill news and opinions about African music and hook up with like-minded people.
The show debuts today at 10h00, with a repeat at 18h00. Episode 2 will also be on today at 14h00. Thereafter the show will be on every Monday at 18h00.
