"For Rent!!!"

Google defines and gives synonyms for the verb "to rent" including
lease: grant use or occupation of under a term of contract
hold under a lease or rental agreement; of goods and services

From ancient times the barter system of trade was used to conduct trade between people ( for example i can give you my spade for 3 loaves of bread). But i could also say that since then, renting goods and/or services was conducted. Take prostitution for example, considered the oldest profession known to mankind, it can be considered a rental agreement/contract because for a certain amount of goods/services you are entitled to use or occupy someones' wo(man)hood for a certain period of time.

Over the thousands of years, mankind has evolved and with this "advanced" if you choose to call it that and have taken the whole rent thing to a different level... people can now rent their foreheads to companies to tattoo company logos for eternal advertising. matter of fact you can rent any visible area or yourself and the bigger the ad and space allocated the more money you make... same concept as the prostitution to me...

where am i going with this? well i just saw a documentary which makes me wonder whether we are advancing in life or simply being totally disturbing... two gay guys from a developed country who had long wanted to be parents had basically bought eggs from some indian lady and rented a uterus of another lady to carry the twins to term. Their services, the egg donor was given $1000 and the uterus for rent lady given $5000 which they then used to educate their children. the sad thing was the "rent a uterus" lady was considering doing it again as their finances were a bit stretched most recently and didnt even think it was a big deal.

Just googling "uterus for rent" brings about >21000 articles some with reasons as to why some people my consider renting a uterus or renting out their uterus.. some argue that this is eploitation of women who clearly are tempted by the large sums of money, commonly from the united states, that is being paid for basically 9 months rent... those who advocate for the right for someone to have autonomous control of their bodies may argue that these women can do whatever they want to do with their bodies for whoever they choose to please...

These days because of the so called "fast world" we live in, you can even
FED-X your sperm and/or eggs half way across the world and nine months later just come and pick up the product without even meeting the "real estate agent" shame hey.  very production line like for something meant to be meaningful sacred...

Yeah neh, i hate to wonder what is next really... are we going to end up in a world where the rich can pay the poor to do all the not so pleasant things in life... I am however willing to find out if times were super tough, what would you consider as a reasonable "rental agreement/contract" to have to payyour bills?? In this day and age of the global financial crisis desperate times could call for desperate measures.....

somehow the idea of my child being out in the world, and no connection to me would just freak me out.... i would never 'sell' my eggs - and even if it's carrying an embryo that has no biological link to me - i believe that once your body has housed that precious creature, there is a serious link that will be traumatic to break.

i admire surrogate mothers who do it for childless couples, but i really doubt i'd have the strength to do it myself. i'd be clutching to that baby, running out of hospital in my flapping little hospital gown, screaming "you'll never take us alive!" at the security guards in hot pursuit- not for me.

are we going to end up in a world where the rich can pay the poor to do all the not so pleasant things in life?

very relevant question...
