1. U are the first born in your family, how do you break the news?
My sister gave my mom a copy of the scan that's how she broke the news to us.  My mom is old school and she was wondering what that was.

For those who have children, how did u feel when u found out that u are pregnant? It took me forever to conceive so when i found out, i was over the moon.  I was buying pregnancy tests every week and when it happened i did not know i was, i started vomitting and instead of instantly knowing , i went to the doctor coz i could not understand why i was vomitting.  The thing is i went for an op, to check my fallapion (sp) tubes coz i was struggling so one week after the op i started vomitting so when i went to the doc, they confirmed that i was 2 weeks pregnant and my baby surived all that intrusion.  I have a miracle child, when i think about it i thank God and at times i look at my child and think what a gift he is.

What are the things that one should do when they are pregnant? Look good, i was one yummy pregnant woman, i looked good all the time.  Take care of your figure and skin, there is no such thing as eating for two...

Some of our traditions don’t allow us to tell other people when we are pregnant except your family. How do u go about that one? I told everone who cared to listen.

Just eat whatever you are craving for....

1. U are the first born in your family, how do you break the news?
for me it was very difficult becuase i had just told my mom about the relationship
i was nervous and scared at the same time, because of my "perfect(ness)" being 1st born. i am an example fora lot of kids. I am first born and first grandchild so you can imagine
the trick is to tell them while they are together (if you have both parents)
you might tell your mom and she might say..."o botse papa wa gago"
i told them at the same time, no one was prepared for such mara nna i was relieved thereafter

2. For those who have children, how did u feel when u found out that u are pregnant?
nna I slept with one person without protection and that is my boyfriend and my baby daddy. I took only one pregnancy test in my life and it was the one that came positive.
i knew that on the 06th i ocnceived and needed to confirm it. mara i was scared to see thatit was positive. tjeeer heartbeat eo nka se e lebale

3. What are the things that one should do when they are pregnant?
take lots of pictures
i did not take a lot though which is something i regret
if you know a good photographer make a pregnancy album
(you can pm me i can be your photographer kikikikiki)

rest your back whenever you can, if you dont you will know what i meant after giving birth
watch what you eat, you will gain weight mara you dont want to look like an elephant now do you?
pray for your unborn child and yourself, ask God to protect you. batho ba stout

ask for help whenever you need one

dont buy maternity clothing like you will be pregnant for the rest of your life, but please look good esp because your bun will show in summer (sexy smmer maternity--ka be ka duma go ima)

4. What are the things one should not do when they are pregnant?

unneccessary stressing; stress affect your baby
drink alcohol
abusing your aprtner claiming that you crave kota while you know you are lying

5. Some of our traditions don’t allow us to tell other people when we are pregnant except your family. How do u go about that one?
its your call

6. Well coming to food, which food is good for u when u are preg?
anything healthy
take folic pills-(calcuim) (your gynae will tell you) for baby's bone development

7. which food is not good ?

fatty foods because you will at some point have a problem of high blood pressure and these fatty foods contribute a lot.
If  you have uncontrolled diet, then you moght have blood pressure issues even after giving birth
the other thing is that you will gain weight when you pregnant and if you stuff yourself with sweets and magwinya claiming that you crave them...you are going to be an elephant

phweeeeeuuu

what a long reply
i hope i helped

if you are pregnant; enjoy every moment of it

31 Jul 2009 13:23

Well i've never been to this kind of a situation but here's what i think i'll do.

1. U are the first born in your family, how do you break the news?

I will stand infront of a mirror and  cry like a new born baby.......and eventually they'll notice that something is wrong and they'll start asking what's wrong.

2. For those who have children, how did u feel when u found out that u are pregnant?

Well i know how my friend felt,........She was crying non-stop.Only to find out later that she's not pregnant it was a false alarm.

3. What are the things that one should do when they are pregnant?

I think first you should accept that you are pregnant and then carry on with your life's daily routine as if nothing has happened. And control your moods, they can irritate or drive people close to you away.

 4. What are the things one should not do when they are pregnant?

You shouldn't  think that your better than the others, like i said above control your mood swings..........and don't try to pull that girl's stunt, that girl wa ko advert ya chicken wings.

5.Some of our traditions don’t allow us to tell other people when we are pregnant except your family. How do u go about that one?

Which Tradition is that?.......first time hearing this one Lol.I think being pregnant is a blessing and brings joy to most of the families out there, especially if the couple has been trying for a very long time.who wouldn't want the whole world to know that they are pregnant.......i think those traditions should be revised.Lol am only kidding.

 6. Well coming to food, which food is good for u when u are preg?

Don't know about this one.....i only know that you shouldn't take too much alcohol and don't smoke.........concerning food consult with your doctor.

7. which food is not good ?
Consult with your doctor.

Back to the topic.

1. U are the first born in your family, how do you break the news?
First born or no firstt born......I called my mother and told her all about it....and she was so understanding...........i think it depends on how you parents are as well as how your relationship is...if you a scared....tell someone who is a friend to the family and let them break the news...while you sit in your room.......biting your teeth lol!!!

2. For those who have children, how did u feel when u found out that u are pregnant? tjo....i cried like nobody's business. for one day though.........i was at work...and i just felt that my breast were a bit swollen....and when i saw the two solid lines i just burst into tears!!!!!!!!!! I cried even with my second child.......mind you..that was a year later.....

3. What are the things that one should do when they are pregnant?
Sleep whenever you feel like it
Eat whatever you feel like eating
Pamper yourself
Look good all the time ............  aint nothing sexy like a yummu mommy indeed
Excercise (this includes walking) alot...it might help speed up your contractions at labour
DRINK LOADS OF WATER......

4. What are the things one should not do when they are pregnant?
Consuption of unprescribed medicine etc...
Smoking, drinking
the rest consult your doctor......this is always the best option.

5. Some of our traditions don’t allow us to tell other people when we are pregnant except your family. How do u go about that one?
Do what you feel is best......only you will know....I am not such a traditionalist but if my gut feeling tells me not to tell a person i don't else.....i told everyone who cared to listen......

6. Well coming to food, which food is good for u when u are preg?
Everything nutritious + water.....eat your all brans...cause preggies woman tend to suffer from constipation........lots of water once again...and er  lemme think.......to reduce the vomiting....try ginger....else anything that you can down....what is important is that you eat at least something for energy.

7. which food is not good ?
Try and minimize intake of fizzy drinks as well as sporty energy drinks.......unless if you want to have a supper hyperactive baby......

I thought i was pregnant last month. my periods were exactly 2 full weeks late and i had unprotected sex with my ex. (i couldnt stop crying because it was what is termed grey rape). there was one night i woke up at 2am wet because i was sweating. i send him an sms telling him that i couldnt sleep and was scared. i was scared because of the following besides the fact that he is an ex......
- telling my parents
- raising the kid my current set up is not conducive to raise a baby. i need a space of my own, own car and still saving for a bambino
But the guy was so supportive and so wanting the baby...

U are the first born in your family, how do you break the news?

my 1st pregnancy was very scary, i hid it from my parents until i was 6 months and my mom brought a pregnancy home test one day and set me down and asked me what was wrong i lied and said nothing and she just handed me the test and i knew there was no turning back. She was very supportive though coz she cud see i was scared and dissappointed.

2. For those who have children, how did u feel when u found out that u are pregnant?
1st one was bad coz i was still young and not ready. ....2nd one was a bit exciting.....

3. What are the things that one should do when they are pregnant?
Take care of themselves, , eat well, exercise (mild though) and rest well.

4. What are the things one should not do when they are pregnant?
Don't wear tight clothing, don't avoid eating, don't smoke, don't drink alcohol, avoid fizzy drinks and caffeine.

5. Some of our traditions don’t allow us to tell other people when we are pregnant except your family. How do u go about that one?
I also didn't tell anyone until i was showing, on both pregnancies, bathi in your early stages you shud avoid saying anything coz you're chances of miscarring are high.

6. Well coming to food, which food is good for u when u are preg?
Eating small bites every two hours is very good when you are preg, it even helps with the morning sickness.

7. which food is not good ?
Oily foods, a lot of junk food.

1. U are the first born in your family, how do you break the news?
I guess just talking to your mom nje. I'm not the first born, but my sister went home and told my mom-she's cool about it.

2. For those who have children, how did u feel when u found out that u are pregnant?
I''m still preggies...was sooo shocked, I had taken morning after pills phela.

3. What are the things that one should do when they are pregnant?
Be comfortable, don't stress, enjoy the pregnancy, get as much info as possible, do not skip dr or gynea visits, any sign of blood is a cause for concern (see the doc), save save save...preferably also start buying nappies. Above all else leave it in God's capable hands.

4. What are the things one should not do when they are pregnant?
Strenious exercises (sex isn't one of those LOL), stressing

5. Some of our traditions don’t allow us to tell other people when we are pregnant except your family. How do u go about that one?
It's better to tell after 3 months (12 weeks) your chances of miscarrying decrease a lot then...otherwise shut up and let the bump do the talking...

6. Well coming to food, which food is good for u when u are preg?
Veggies, fruits (cranberry juice-you are more prone to urinery tract infection now), and anything you crave (that's not harmful to humans).

7. which food is not good ?

Eat a variety of food to include a maximum amount of vitamins and minerals.

Protein is important for the growth of new tissue.
If you eat enough protein in the form of diary / meat / chicken / fish / soya at lunch and dinner times, this will be sufficient. If you are vegetarian then have more soya milk or yoghurt, soya mince, soya burgers, dried beans and lentils.

Iron helps to form red blood cells. A lack of iron will lead to anaemia and cause extreme tiredness.
Iron is found in red meat, pork, chicken, eggs, spinach, dried beans and dried fruit. If you are vegetarian it's important to have more of these non-meat sources.

Vitamin C helps to increase the absorption of iron from food, so eat foods high in vitamin C with food high in iron. Sources of vitamin C are: oranges, grapefruit, strawberries, fruit juice, guavas, tomatoes, green & red peppers, broccoli and cabbage. You may need to take a supplement if your iron levels are low - discuss with your doctor or dietitian.

Folic acid is VERY important to take, especially in the first trimester as it will help prevent any spinal defects in your baby. You should take a supplement that provides a MINUMUM of 400 micrograms of folic acid (you can take up to 800 micrograms). Eat more food that's rich in folic acid, such as spinach, cabbage, broccoli, dark lettuce, nuts and wholegrain cereals.

Calcium is important for the development of strong bones. You will need to take extra calcium in your diet, as it will be taken from your own bones for your baby's development, if there's not enough! You need to equivalent of a litre of milk daily - but try to include a variety of low fat milk, yoghurt, cheese, dark green leafy vegetables, nuts and tinned sardines or salmon with the bones.

Essential fatty acids promote healthy nerve and brain development of your baby. You need a combination of omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in salmon, mackerel, tuna, flax seeds and pumpkin seeds. Omega-6 fatty acids are found in sesame and sunflower seeds and oils.

Fibre helps to control bowel movements - digestion slows down during pregnancy to allow the gut to absorb more nutrients! This can leat to constipation to include more fibre and water to help prevent this. Good fibre rich foods are: ALL vegetables and frtuit (eat LOTS of them!). Try to eat 3 different fruit and 2-3 different vegetables during the day. Bran cereals, muesli. Wholewheat and seed bread, rye and wholewheat crackers. Sweet potato, baby potatoes. Brown rice. Popcorn. Fluids hlep to move food along the digestive tract. You need to drink a total of at least 2 litres of fluid per day. Water should make up most of this, and then choose diluted juice, rooibos tea, herbal tea and decaffeinated coffee. Limit fizzy drinks, coffee and tea. There are no known safe limits for alcohol during pregnancy and so it is best to avoid it.

How to deal with discomforts during pregnancy

Nausea is common.
Try to eat small, regular meals during the day. Upon waking it may be helpful to eat some dry biscuits. Try drinking fresh ginger tea or apple juice. If you are vomiting a lot, a liquid supplement may help. Ensure that you are drinking enough fluid at all times.

Heartburn is also very common. To help prevent this, also eat small, regular meals. Milk often helps soothe heartburn, or alternatively discuss a suitable antacid with your Doctor.

The fact that:

I love playing soccer & wrestling with him. We get dirty like nobody’s business. Thank God there is grass.

I grew up with my 2 brothers so most of the time i spent playing with boys so I’m rough & he also love playing rough like karate, ruby etc.

He has his way to crack me up; he got hilarious lines or some stupid comments. My cousin is hairy so he calls her Miss Cat.

He is not shy to say something like the other day a male friend of mine came & he asked him & don’t forget it was the first time he sees him“Wena ungutata kabani ke”? We just bust in laughter because my friend is SO single & he doesnt have a kid yet.

The clothes he wears i know i will NEVER clothe him again, once is enough. Oh i love dressing him. Their colours are not so bright but I love white t-shirts. Its so simple but expensive maar.

He loves attention.

Oh i just change my hair style but i love shaving so you can imagine me & him walking with bold heads.

My son doesn’t cry even if he bumps so hard & i sometimes wonder...... Eish i can go on & on & on

@Ansie ... Use your parent's medical aid ... You are covered in it, unless pregnancy is an exclusion .

You will not get immediate cover by any medical aid. You will have to wait 3 to 6 months before you get cover, and even then, you will have to disclose your pregnancy when you take the insurance policy. Not disclosing it can result in an exclusion.

Thanks GA

Ansie, all I know is that medical aid prefer that you are not pregnant when u apply for a cover, and if you are please disclose that upfront otherwise they will not cover ur current pregnancy at all. Otherwise call them and find out, there's too much fine print in medical aids rather get it directly from them.
