To many viewers, she is known as the gold digging superbitch Kimberly Lewis in Isidingo, but in reality Marisa Drummond is anything but. This is very obvious as I sit across from her - we engage in an interview and she spills all about the woman many of her fans know nothing about.
Drummond (30) is a young woman that believes in family, love and working hard to achieve one’s goals. “I am a very homey girl, I love my husband and the rest of my family”.
Unlike Kimberly whose main goal is about her bank balance, for Marisa it is not the case, “something that Kimberly and I have in common is our drive to be successful. I want to achieve as much as I can in all that I do, but I work for what I have, whereas Kimmy, well she’s a gold digger”
Growing up influences a lot of how we turn out. Marisa comfortably tells that she had a very nice upbringing and a lot of friends, “I would go up to the other kids and say, hi do you wanna be my friend”. She admits a lot of artists come from underprivileged backgrounds, and how happy she is that both her parents played a role in becoming who she is today.
“One person that I look up to the most is my mother; she is the best role model. She used to tell me to put on my brightest colour lipstick, and a beautiful scarf around my neck when I was not feeling well and it worked.”
Marisa is happily married; she and her husband will be celebrating their fourth anniversary on November 10. They do not have any children but says she would love to be a mommy.
As much as she loves her family, friends and her job, she also has a huge passion for her country. Being proudly South African is the one thing that keeps this beau grounded, it is not just because her roots are in this lovely country but the people and the atmosphere of Mzansi are none like any other place
“I’ve always been patriotic about our country, doesn’t matter if it’s the old SA on the new SA. I wouldn’t be able to pack up and leave this country, I wouldn’t feel at home anywhere else”, she says with a smile, one can see how proudly Mzansi she really is.
And with the World Cup that was held in our own home soil, according to this star, this proved to the entire world what a great nation we are. “We did a fabulous job, I was so impressed with such positivity. We watched every single game, there was a braai, dit was net a jol, even after it ended we remained one people, and that is what I love about this country.”
Isidingo is not the first acting job she has done. She has starred in numerous theatre productions namely, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof and Deon Opperman’s Ons vir Jou and in the Broadway production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. She was on kykNET’s Hester & Ester Bester where she played the role of Ester, other work include Begeertes, Dof en Dilly Poppie and more. ~
