Woow the 12th February finally came and we made our way to the standard bank Arena to see the Hansa Pilsner- Legends in the making concert. It all started last year with local acts Malaika, DJ Tira, Zuluboy, Ntando, Futuresounds, Ntando, Kwela Tebza, Dmos, Vusi and freedom touring the country to showcase the ‘special ingredient in their music’ as Hansa puts it.
The countrywide tour took 13 weeks and the final concert had an international act, NERD Pharell gracing us with their presence and a performance.
My tickets were delivered with a dumpy of Hansa, the beer brewed with the kiss of the saaz hop to my office. Hehehe I must say it doesn’t taste as bad as I thought.
Ok I must admit, I was more interested in the local artists performances than NERD Pharell’s because I have never heard any of their songs even though I know Pharell.
As usual, in a true black person style i was late. So i missed Dmos, Vusi, and the other artist who's name skips my mind' perfomances .
The mc was Vuyo the beeg beeg dreamer from the hansa event, i think he did a great job and kept us entertained throughout the concert, except when he started praising Kaizer Chiefs and making fun of MY team and Pirates..
Now my beef with the whole thing is although I had vip parking, I didn’t secure a vip tag to go along. As a result I couldn’t snap as much pictures and didn’t have access to ‘celebs’. After pushing there and pulling here I managed to get someone who had access but no camera to snap a few pic for us.
Soo here goes:
Woow i cant believe i have never heard of Futuresounds before this Hansa concert, these guys are the future shwem.
I also enjoyed Zulu boy's perfomance. I still dont understand why people think he is dirty. He might look dirty at times but am sure we all have those days, BATHONG..
I must say that i like the hardwork that these guys put into their perfomances and their outfits.
Ntando was also there singing his songs that we already know, kanti didnt he release an album last year or so? or maybe he did sing one of his new songs? i dont know shwem because they all sound the same. My friend even asked if Ntando wasnt singing Ringo's song.
and then there was Malaika.
My beef with them is they perfomed for more than 30 minutes, Bongani even perfomed 'sexual healing' in the mix while Tshidi went to change. Like What was that about? Their dancers below also took forever showing what they are capable of on stage, i mean we had to watch them for about 5 minutes shaking their bodies on stage as if this was a live dvd recording or something. I also had an issue with Tshedi's super long shoes, yena nje she cant really dance so i thought those shoes made it even more difficult for her to dance. But i must admit gore bona they can sing, i just wish they could come back with another killer album because i think their Matswale album didnt reach the standard of their first 3 albums.
1 more reason i had beef with Malaika is because we Tira had to perform only 3 songs.I think he could have gotten more time had they cut Malaika...The crowd went wild when he took to the stage, this guy knows his stuff and he is going places.
FACT TIRA ROCKS!!!!
and then, it as time for the group man of the moment to get on stage. It was really great to see soo many people enjoying their perfomance because i thought most people like me when there because tickets were free.
NERD
Pharell
I dont have much to say about their perfomance because i left in the middle and didnt see the rest of it.
Thanks to Hansa for making this possible and the two dumpies we received at the end of the show. I will recommend it to beer lovers. I also have a few international artists I have in mind for next ‘Hansa Pilsener Legends in the making tour *wink*.
My nunu's bathong. They soo cute in the fridge
