A drama series that centres round Amy Gray (Amy Brenneman): a young New York attorney who, after separating from her husband, returns with her young daughter to her childhood home in Hartford, Connecticut.
She becomes a judge on the city's family court and eventually gets a divorce.
Her mother Maxine (Tyne Daly), with whom she lives, is a social worker for the Department of Children and Family Services, and often at odds with her boss, Sean Potter (Timothy Omundson).

Often referred to as “the Cosby Show of the ’90s”, The Parent ’Hood is a sitcom about an upper middle-class black family, the Petersons, who live in Harlem.
Robert Townsend (The Meteor Man, Black Listed) plays Robert Peterson, a college professor, who is married to law student Jerri (Suzzanne Douglas – School of Rock, How Stella Got Her Groove Back).
Together they try to raise their four children as best they can while juggling the hectic schedules of the baby-boomer generation.
