I Want To Sing Gospel 2, Episode 2 Recap

In this weeks episode of I WANT TO SING GOSPEL, we were introduced to the Top 31 and the judgse were Lindelani Mkhize, Nkqubeko Mbatha and top 3 finalist of season 1 Charisma Hanekam.

Immediately Thabo Mdluli told them that 7 will be eliminated...o fcourse I expected divine, entertaining and inspiring music from the contestants since this is a competition, but no, we had to endure horrible singing with some bullies.

The contestants were divided into 4 groups with each group having 8 singers. Lindelani Mkhize wanted someone who will blend well in a group and also shine within a group. They were given 1 hour to rehearse and to sing in harmony.

Group 1

The first group was bound to flop from the word go, there was no cohesion and top it all, they were all talking at the same time and then entered bully by the name of Rozanne Seims. She is a control freak who never knows when to shut up.

                                               *Shaking my head*

Well, they did perfom what Lindela termed and ordinary song....the were (krasing) makin noise.  One girl who stood out for me was Nombulelo Tshefu(Handkerchief) from Cape Town.

Group 2

The second group made things worse, they were not sure who was to start the song, disorganised and they had their own bully by the name of Ruth (don't know her surname yet).

                                          Ruth....the bulldog

He he he...she killed me when she said to some girl "I can't sing next to her". The girls felt that she was "rough". They performed Oa Halalela, a very simple song I must say, they lacked creativity shem....all they made was a lot of noise. Charisma was "blessed with the way they worshipped"

Group 3

I wasn't convinced with the way they sang, but they were united, they chose a leader (forgot his name) who lead them. Lindelani thanked them for "saving the day" and they were the first group to get a positive comment from the judges.

I liked them...even though I wasn't sure about their song

Group 4

This group was mostly made up of guys and it had 1 girl by the name of Thando Makhaphela who was the third bully, she was bossing the guys shem. The guys sang a medley and they were bimbing....tjo. The harmony was really bad, Lindelani frowned and I thought he was about to hide - then they sang Wahamba Nathi....the first 2 guys who took the song....beautiful voices and I hope they maintain the standard.

Elimination

Lindelani felt that his job was made easy and it was not difficult for him to eliminate. So 7 contestants were shown the exit door and 24 are left. Next week another 7 will get a chop.

Poor girl....she had stomach cramps, all she is thinking about is that R150 000

Did you guys enjoy episode 2, who impressed you the most?

Just when I was thinking Kagiso will be my anointed one, he gets kicked out in the first round. It looks like Lindelani wants the Hlengiwe Siphumelele kind of singers...that Kagiso boy sings well, I don't know why he was eliminated.

Lindelani is not fair

I didn't feel that Kagiso's voice was that powerful, I remember telling my sister during the auditions that he will not go further in the competition.

But the boy looks good, bathong. And he's got style. Which leads me to ask....why do "christian people" like looking so ordinary, blend and just not interesting. I mean on a normal sunday eveing, we switch from Idols, to BigBrother to IWTSG. All these are reality competition what what...but the people in the first two shows are looking fabulous and glamorous...then the Christians come through in their leggings worn under frills and with quarter-heels...lookimg all welfare-TV. Haikhona!

I think the other shows put emphasis in your image than these gospel competition. These Christians lack fashion sense

plz tell me she was sent packing last night.

Fortunately for her, Lindelani threw her a lifeline. I think it was good that she survived, we need drama.

I think we are in for another Dumisani episode again, where background will be favoured more than a talent.  No doubt there was no competition between Kagisho and that gal(what's her name again), but the thing that made her go through was what she said during the interview, where she mention, building/renovating her home.. etc..etc.
Which is not fair because people should be judged according to their vocal abilities...
Taking about vocal talent, the gal in the 4th group, haai batho i thought she was going to be out... She was singing out of tune and her solo was not that great...
The other mistake in my opinion was of the "quiet sister" in the 3rd  group, she had a nice voice.. but was very  shy.

The other mistake in my opinion was of the "quiet sister" in the 3rd group, she had a nice voice.. but was very shy.

It's a pity we never got to see her sing, it was time for her to shine but she kept quiet and that worked against her.

Lungisani man, not dumisani...

Ya it's  a pity.... But like uHlengiwe, i think she wouldn't have made it if she had to go this route, because of her "quiet/shy"  personality.. mar somewhere-somehow, Sipho spotted her... so maybe le yena someone will spot her.... If it's God's plan abt her life

hi everyone

i fully agree with you Sbam...sadly cos Lungisani is not doing well even though he was a winner.i dont know any of his songs but Charisma and Sphumelele are the ones shining now whereas they were eliminated.Kagiso wasnt so bad that he had to go.

LOL Zvee i have no comment too for that pic....kwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Aowa the way other judges operate kills my appetite for the show. Phela literally Lindelani is Alpha and Omega on who stays and goes on the show. When Nqubeko comments..he looks at Lindelani for some sort of confirmation about what he is saying as if he is not sure of what he is saying. As for Charisma to keep on saying I was blessed ai it's boring. They just sandwich Lindelani for mahala.

The lady who got lifeline was a mobile fashion disaster yerrr..she was dressed like somebody who was going to work in tomato fields. Poor Kagiso bathong...then there was this lady who said I do not talk too much.I mean you are in a group discussing something that involves you yet o re I do not talk too much..that's just being way too passengerful.

Sbam

I do not talk too much..that's just being way too passengerful
That's the one i was referring to, she might not have much to say, but her singing was more than what other were offering.  the voice was there..  They should have given her a chance ...

Sobza,if I remember well the name of the group leader that was DEMOCRATICALLY chosen ke Malcom Manuel.
- I totally agree with you guys regarding the quiet lady in group 3,I think her name is Sibongile. In my opinion she sings waaaay better than most people who made it through the next round.
- I dont want to say anything about the bullies in groups 1&2 coz ba nkwatisitse. The bald chick in group 4 took advantage of her being the only woman in that group.
- I honestly think Kagiso can sing, there was no competition btwn him and the tomato-field worker lady. As someone mentioned,I also see another Lungisani saga, people voting out of pity,nx!

truelly speaking i am so disapointed with the chosen contestants hape i see no talent in all of them, its so borin

I think this week they were fair to the groups that were saved,  in my opinion, group 2 should have gone home kaofela.... I don't know what they were doing, they were just all over the place....

A coloured gal should have been axed... i don't think vocally she was as strong as the one who was axed.

I like Kgotso's comment, for once somebody who doesn't just go with what Lindelani is saying...
