Following hot on the heels of the news about
SABC3's new October set-up, SABC1 has announced that the channel will also be undergoing early evening changes in October.
As mentioned,
Bold and the Beautiful will be staying on SABC1 instead of moving to SABC3. It'll be changing time though: to 18h30.
All of the 18h30 shows will be moving to it's current 18h00 timeslot, namely:
Mzansi Insider,
Selimathunzi,
Ses'khona and
Jam Alley.
Another switch happens on Tuesday and Saturday nights. The reality slot currently occupied by
Dance Your Butt Off 2 at 19h00 will become home to the long running celeb'ertainment show
The Real Goboza. Dance Your Butt Off 2 moves to Saturdays from 17h30 to 18h30.
All of these early evening changes take effect on Saturday, 1 October.
In addition to the changes SABC1 has also confirmed the premieres of various properties.
Soul City returns for a new season (Season 11) in the Tuesday night 20h30, timeslot. It takes over from
Intsika when it ends in October.
Two new reality shows debut in the build-up to the changes. The first is a series that follows the adventures of Sushi King Kenny Kunene.
It's called So What? and follows him at work and play - at red carpet events, flashy parties, in boardrooms, in sushi bars and so on. It starts on Thursday, 8 September 2011 at 22h00.
As we've mentioned previously, there's no new season of
So You Think You Can Dance (SA) planned for this year but a new local dance show will be starting titled Turn It Out.
It's a 26-episode search for an urban street dancer in which contestants face-off in a five-rounds of dancing per episode until a winner's found. It premieres on Thursday, 15 September at 19h00.
In the mornings
The Dr Oz Show takes over from
The Tyra Banks Show, as from Thursday, 1 September. Tyra wraps at the end of August and Dr Oz takes over - as it has on SABC3. It'll air Mondays to Fridays at 10h00.
The channel has also confirmed the broadcast of three awards ceremonies. The 2011 South African Traditional Music Achievement Awards (SATMAs) will air on Saturday, 8 October at 22h00.
The 12th annual Crown Gospel Music Awards will also be on but the date hasn't been confirmed yet. The year will end with the annual
Metro FM Music Awards, on Friday, 9 December at 21h00.
