I Want To Sing Gospel 2, Episode 7 Recap

Written by Sobza from the blog SOBZA THE TV FANATIC on 29 Aug 2011

Season 2 of I Want To Sing Gospel continues and it is getting tougher each week - it's even getting more difficult for Lindelani Mkhize to eliminate. The most unfortunate part of last nights episode was seeing all the girls at the bottom. Nombulelo, Samkelisiwe and Nonsikelelo almost got eliminated only for Lindelani to save them. It is clear the guys are more popular than the girls.

The Top 8 finalists had to sing their All time favourite songs - here are my observations of the finalists:

Nombulelo Tshefu - 8/10

Her performance of "Great is Thyfaithfulness" was beautiful, this girl can sing and the judges liked her performance. She is my favourite and I will be voting like a lunatic, I want to see her in the final three.

Nonsikelelo Shandu - 4/10

As I said last week, I don't see her winning this competition....uyatswina qha into ayenzayo. Her performance of "I love the Lord" was average and if she wasn't at the bottom with the other two ladies then she would have gone home.

Samkelisiwe Mvelase - 6/10

She performed "Kungomusa Wakhe" and she has a beautiful voice - I think she has to give more.

Mvuselelo Radebe - 5/10

I wasn't impressed with his "We need a Word" rendition, it felt like he was trying too hard to impress....he really needs to slow down. The more he goes up, the more he loses it.

Nqobile Ngidi - 3/10

He doesn't even deserve the three I scored him, only the public votes are saving him from elimination. This guy is singing crap shem.

Nhlakanipho Cele - 10/10

Absolutely a stirring performance of "Lenani iZulu", I was moved by his performance...tears just fell when he was singing. I am glad he was not at the bottom, very powerful performance. He deserves to be in the final three.

Thabani Ncube - 5/10

There wasn’t anything in his performance that really stood out to me. He has a beautiful voice but last night he did not come to the party. The public adores him but his performance of "You are Holy / Through it All " wasn't up to scratch, he also tried too much.

Malcom Manuel 7 / 10

I am starting to like him more, his performance of "Alabaster Box" was beautiful even though I felt at some point he was doing too much. A solid performance overall.

At the end of it all, no one was eliminated and Lindelani said he still wanted to hear more from the ladies. I don't like it when my favourites are at the bottom and I am voting...a week before last Nhlakanipho was at the bottom and now Nombulelo.

He he he....I noticed now that they are selling the tickets for the shows at R20, you no longer have to email ronald@toxmedia.co.za

Nqobile is the weakest link, serious. It's so embarrassing listening to him...I just wanted to switch the channel. My favourite is Malcolm and not only because last night he sang one of my favourite songs. Nhlakanipho made me stand on my feet last night.

I love nhlakanipo good performance last nyt.. Nqobile no more comments from me ... I think it was not fair of lindelani to save the ladies coz next week it will affect our favorates and they might end up being in the bottom 3. Obvouisly now people will vote like crazy to save the ladies of which compared to the guys(except nqobile) are the weakest links..

Keke is an actor, I don't wanna talk about the judges no more. It's very clear they are just adding numbers.

No comment on Thabo's pants. Tjo! I noticed that too and I just kept it to myself coz I'm not sure if its really proper to talk about the things of a married man of God.

Oh my word Sobza I also said the same thing about Nhlakanipho, much as he is my favourite but he tried too hard. Can you believe I don't give scores but I gave Nhlakanipho a ten out of ten, he was my best last night. Abanye were all just nje.

Sobza
29 Aug 2011 13:02

@ Lela....he gave it his all, after being at the bottom a week before then that was a good comeback.

Let me go and abuse tax payers money and vote Nombulelo and Nhlakanipho. I like Malcolm but not at the expense of the two I have mentioned.

only the public votes are saving him from elimination.

@Sobza: yes, our votes nd our love 4 that type of music! Eish, I must confess, like tent music and therefore natuarly I am suppose to like Nqobile - but shame uBhuti goes all the way out to make it difficult to love nd defend him, u can't actualy hear the lyrics - Judge Criselda Kananda was spot-on with those comments! I did stand-up when Nqobs was singing - and that was NOT because of his voice, it was good rythm nd sound 4rm instruments.... But ke shame, I will continue 2 support Nqobs - just 4 his nyc personalilty nje -! I also think he deserves that 3 or more shame - nd that's 4 looking good in a suit....lol

This guy is singing crap shem.
Oh yini na be2na - harsh words harsh words...... but true words 4 now - I however hope nd pray that with good-schooling nd voice coaching while he is still in the IWTSG competion, a miracle will happen and he will get his singing break through and deliver a good perfomance one of the episode!... Yes, I em a dreamer....LOL

For me, Samkelisiwe was the top of the galz! Nhlakanipho must make a request yokuthi his pants zixokomezelwe nge 2cm - he is tall shame nd ibhlukhwe liyarhala!

Eish, I jus wanna hire Malcom, start a churche, and place him in the pulpit - he has this "holy" voice that I know 4 sure that he would pursuade worshippers 2 give in the last cent in offerings....

kwaaaaaaa - I em so not entering this talk other than saying you should have seen him 4rm behind as well - plus ke, yena no Jub-jub bayazalana shame ngee ndawo ezi zokuhlala - these r two bortherz who won't survive prission - especial with those tight clothing....lol

This competition is very unfair, the fact that Nqobile is still in the competition when there are people who can actually sing,is not on. I shall reserve my comment about Thabo's very small pants especially in that area, tjo!

Nhlakanipho AKA Nhlaka is gonna win this competition, not because he is my home boy but because he is good at what he doing. Nhlaka, you need to do it for your group (Sipho and Zethembe), your township Umlazi (K section) and of course your mom (She is very proud of you).

Ntlakanipho deserves a 10/10 that boy can sing...he is my favorite in this competition...he is also my home boy Saruna (Umlazi k section ko6)...u go boy we are behind u all the way...
As for Nqobile, i think its becos he came with Sphumelele of Joyous dat is why he is still in this competition, uyihlazo shame, uyihlazo, i so wish the judge was uSomizi of Dance yo Butt off, ubezomtshela frm the word go...sorry to Karabo ngokungaziwa waphuma kwi competition...Nqobile u r a disgrace boy obonga ukwaziwa nokusonta noDube adawise ngabe ungaphandle njengoKarabo...

I  must say the contestants are very talented and I am loving the show - it is reviving! Thank you to Lindelani. As for the girls to stay in the competition I think it was because of Cassandra commenting: "It's a Women's Month and ONLY ladies in the bottom three". That could have made lindelani to think twice - it was a favour for two girls....I would not mention their names. And I feel this is going to be a challenge for Lindelani as to who to eliminate and how many to are to hang their personalised microphone and take a bow as Thabo always says: "Contestants take a bow". Nontsi - I love her but I think she needs to take singing lessons. Nombulelo - I dont know why she was on the bottom three, she is competitive ( Next Mariah carely - lol!) . Samkelisiwe - What a great song, she nailed it! Look out for that girl - she is a dynamite. 7/10. Nqobile and Nontsi are to bow the Competition. Thabani and Mvuselelo you NEXT - if nizodlala.

Nhlakanipho outshined all of them - I agree with a 10/10 score.
Thabani is overated  - Fully agree with the comments. 5/10
Malcom - Good performance and connection to the songs  - not too sure if he has what it takes to win this competition - he just too much for me. 7/10 - I agree with the score. Nqobile - he can do well with collaboration with Hlengiwe Mhlaba.
Mvuselelo - He tried hard, he must join the Tenors...
