BARRY HILTON, NDUMISO LINDI, ROBBY COLLINS & SCHALK BEZUIDENHOUT BRING THE LAUGHS AT “COMEDY CENTRAL PRESENTS BARRY HILTON LIVE AT PARKER’S”ON WEDNESDAY 27 JUNE 2012Veteran stand-up Barry Hilton is to headline and emcee the June edition of " Comedy Central Presents … Live at Parker’s."
Rounding out the bill at Johannesburg’s hottest stand-up comedy night are Ndumiso Lindi, Robby Collins and Schalk Bezuidenhout.
Barry Hilton is the Zimbabwe-born, Port Elizabeth-based comedian known affectionately as “The Cousin” (from his habit of calling everyone “cousin”).
One of South Africa’s top comedians, Hilton is a skilful and engaging entertainer who prides himself on his clean brand of humour and optimistic, patriotic outlook on South Africa.
With his irrepressible sense of humour, Hilton has been performing to appreciative comedy fans for nearly 30 years, bringing the house down whenever he stands on stage.
The only SA comedian who regularly sells out 4,000-seater venues with his one-man show, Hilton also makes regular visits to the UK, and was the first South African stand-up to perform at the legendary London Comedy Store.
Ndumiso Lindi or “The Roosta”, a rising star of the comedy community, uses his humour to paint a personal picture of South Africa - seen from a young black man’s point of view.
Known for his trademark hat, urban style and brilliant impersonation of the Madiba Jive, Lindi is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s top black comedians.
Moulding his craft around honest observations about everyday life in South Africa, Lindi eloquently analyses the diversity of South African cultures, as well as the uniqueness of black people.
Lindi’s humour travels too and he was recently chosen for the prestigious 46664 series of comedy shows, touring the arenas of South Africa and other African countries including Nigeria and Ghana.
Robby Collins has been catching the eyes of comedy fans since breaking onto the SA stand-up club circuit in 2009.
Peers in the comedy world rate him too and Collins has opened for SA’s top comics - including Marc Lottering and Trevor Noah. His tour with Trevor Noah was extensive and constituted over 50 shows all over Southern Africa. In 2011, Robby was nominated in the “Breakthrough Act” category in the first Comic’s Choice Awards.
Capetonian comedian
Schalk Bezuidenhout is a favourite on the Afrikaans comedy circuit, wringing every ounce of comedy out of being an Afrikaner fish-out-of-water in the new South Africa. Schalk was a finalist in the Graca Comedy Showdown 2011 – and he has proved his worth since then - appearing on Cape Town stages and opening for Marc Lottering and Barry Hilton.
