Nominated Lira.
The 2012 BET Awards went down at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday night (1 July) and air in a delayed broadcast on
BET on TopTV on Tuesday (3 July) at 21h00.
Please note: if you don't want to know who the winners are before watching the broadcast, please don't read on.
Samuel L. Jackson, behind-the-scenes, before the ceremony.
The ceremony was hosted by Samuel L. Jackson for the first time and opened with a performance by Kanye West who turned proceedings into reality TV when he headlined with his feelings for Kim Kar’trashian.
He performed his track Cold and placed centre-stage emphasis on the lyrics: "And I'll admit, I had fell in love with Kim, Around the same time she had fell in love with him, Well that's cool, baby girl, do ya thang, Lucky I ain't had Jay drop him from the team."
Everyone ooh’d, aah’d and tweeted about it and the ceremony went on to hand out awards in 23 categories. Performances included a special tribute to Whitney Houston featuring Mariah Carey, Brandy and Whitney's mother Cissy.
Our Lira didn’t win the Best International Act: Africa category unfortunately but as you can see from the snap, she made up for it with her pizzazz on the red carpet.
