While Khaya snatched the Idols 8 title on Tuesday night, a seedy underbelly of scandal went down beneath the surface of the finale and after-party.

Armed with a chuckle in my shoes I hit the finale and after-party for us with TVSA blogger Snazz McTazz aka Tazteeq.

Idols 8 finale 102

As you probs know, Taz' has been covering the weekly live shows for us so we hit the finale together to soak up the dirrrt to spill for you.

Presenting! ... the resultiozo:

Idols 8 Finale Pic 1
Miss South Africa Melinda Bam with her BFF date - in the moment of the announcement of Khaya's win. Is she still so secretive about why she pulled out of Miss World? Find out soon.

Khaya and Melissa at the press conference immediately after the show, discussing the boos directed towards Melissa. #BooBomb

As spilt on TVSA's twitter on Tuesday night, a large contingent of Khaya fans in the audience bood Melissa before her first performance of the night. It happened during an ad break on TV so you wouldn't have seen it on screen - while she was setting up to perform.

As she positioned herself in her dress with the dramatic wind flowing through it, the audience started booing. The boos started quietly, grew and then bellowed.

Then they quietened down when the show returned to air. Melissa handled things well I thought - she didn't acknowledge that it happened and went on to perform as if it it hadn't.

Of course it was the first thing that was brought up at the press conference. Khaya was asked to give his opinion on events - he said that he felt that it was wrong and expressed his support for Melissa.

After that, talk moved to the voting results - M-Net say they'll be releasing them soon - and there was talk about Khaya's album and future.

Idols Finale Pic 11
Which is now in the hands of producer Lindelani Mhkize and Universal Music.

Goodbye: I Want I To Sing Gospel. Hello: the competition.

Word from Lindelani is that Khaya's album will be based on Khaya's musical choices. It's going to be a compilation of what he wants to do and will very probably include a number of gospel tracks.

Despite the booing fiasco Melissa was surrounded by fans who wanted a piece of her after the show.

Aha! Yes ...back to Miss SA ...

Idols 8 Finale Pic 14

So I asked her if she's ready to spill the secret reason she pulled out of Miss World and she said that it was a "strategic decision" but didn't give details on her strategy.

At the time of it happening Miss South Africa organisers Sun International said that the reason she withdrew was:  "very personal" - strategy isn't personal so I'm convinced that there's still a scandalous reason that we don't know about.

Could it be that she suspected the competition was rigged?

As we finished chatting she said: "Miss China won in China so I'm pleased I didn't waste my time."

Ha!

The gals of The Wild were at the after-party in full gusto. Most underdressed: Faye Peters (left). As you can see everyone wanted a piece of our Tazz'.

*Missing in action*

The judges. They were at the press conference and then evaporated to a different after-party at a club somewhere. It happens annually apparently. Very bizarre I thought - makes no sense too.

Idols 8 Finale Pic 17
Lele Ledwaba was there with her niece and nephew. They were rooting for Khaya but seemed keen on Melissa too because they spent ages waiting for a moment with her.

Idols 8 Finale Pic 18
Tazz under the infuence of drama queen Tshidi.

As I mentioned recently, Tshidi's been nominated for a 2012 Feather Award for Drama Queen of the Year as a result of her outburst before her elimination from the show.

In case you missed what happened: she was out signing autographs for school kids, they mobbed her and she screamed: “Please don’t jump on me!”

I've heard rumours that she feels she was set up with the whole thing. I don't know how because I didn't get to ask her - one moment she was in the flash of my lens and the next she'd dramatically disappeared.

Idols Finale 20
Trevor Gumbi flashes a moob while interviewing Nosipho for Headline.

Idols 8 Finale Pic 30
Turns out Nosipho's ditched week day farming to move to Jozi to pursue a music career. She'll be returning to her farm to plough at weekends.

Idols 8 Finale Pic 31
Why did Chloe suddenly go from blonde to dark? Was it an emo (emotional) response to being voted off the show? No - she says it's because she was tired of her roots growing back so quickly.

Idols 8 Finale Pic 50
I asked Chloe and Simphiwe about the rumours that Khaya received preferential treatment from the show.

Are the rumours true? Do they think he was treated differently?

Chloe answered: "No, no definitely not." - very vehemently and Simphiwe didn't say anything - he sort of suggested: "No" but didn't say so in so many words.  I wasn't sure what it meant. Did he feel that Chloe had said it all or did he feel they're true and didn't want to say?

Idols 8 Finale Pic 32
Michelle Esau of M-Net with surprise of the night: wooden mic winner Sarah, who proved to be a better singer than Toya DeLazy.

Idols 8 Finale Pic 31
He won the Sexiest Man award at the 2012 YOU Spectacular awards and now The Wild's Ty Keogh's been nominated as Hunk of the Year in the Feather Awards.

Does his sexiness have an impact on his lurve/lust life? Turns out it does - but not in a good way. Word from Ty is that his dates often feel insecure because of the attention he gets from women and he wishes they wouldn't. Says it isn't necessary because the attention has no impact on his relationships.

I asked what he looks for in chicks - his reply: "Confidence and big eyes."

Idols 8 Finale Pic 33
Monde confirmed that he's also receiving a flurry of lusty fem-attention, including all sorts of propositions via Facebook.

Idols 8 Finale Pic 90
And of course Khaya was the most popular man flesh of the night.

Idols 8 Finale Pic 70
He was grabbed by chickdom with every move he made.

Idols 8 finale 101
To the point that he reached a moment where he seemed to make a desperate appeal before escaping to see his family.

The boos aimed at Melissa during the Final would make anyone feel unsettled, but being the true popstar that she is, she chose to perform her songs like it was the last time she would perform ever. Maybe she did look confident but she had all the reason to be - she worked hard to be in the final and you can she how much she learnt and grew as a performer by watching her perform from week one. She might not have been the strongest singer in the competition but she has the makings of a successful pop star in the industry. Tyma, I don't think she was confident that she was going to win at all. She probably knew Khaya was going to win, as did everyone else, seeing that he was the better vocalist of the two and a strong favorite from hi auditions. She just looked hopeful and proud of herself for getting that far in the comp.

The classic performance of the night was the boys with Zakes Batwini, especially Simphiwe who was constantly springing out of that closet! I mean the boy loves attention, I still think he has a good voice and a better performer though..... I dont mean better than Khaya before I get killed.

Finale was good but was a bit disturbed by Tshidi's perfomance she didn't look happy or interested in what she was singing maybe it was just me.

Thanks Tashi for this, at least we know Khaya has a choice in the type of music he will make! His single move is good but I was a bit worried about him doing pop

I agree with u MYNAME, his *move * song does not do it for me,and the only reason that he won is bcoz this yrs' idols was 2 'black focused' n mnet probably got threats of a black idol from sum crazy politician sumwhr,nd i can tell u tht most white ppl i know wer not following idols that much this year, if this was not the case Mellissa could hav won,coz i think ppl didn't vote for talent but colour, when is this race thing gona stop in SA?
