Coming up on Carte Blanche this Sunday (7 April, 2013):

CAR

One of Post-Apartheid South Africa’s biggest military disasters has ended with a decision to withdraw all SANDF troops from the Central African Republic.
This week also saw memorial services and preparations for the funerals of the soldiers who fell in defence of a cause that’s still unclear. Carte Blanche brings you some heartbreaking memories of the Battle of Bangui.
Producer: Graham Coetzer
Presenter: Bongani Bingwa
Journalist: Susan Comrie

Criminal Cops

Taking bribes, beating up suspects, intimidating witnesses: all in a day’s work for some members of the SAPS and now a problem acknowledged by HQ. Catching criminal cops on camera isn’t that easy, but the public is becoming more savvy and helping journalists bring some horrific cases to light. Carte Blanche puts police training under the spotlight to find out how we end up with the recruits we do.

Producer: Julie Laurenz
Presenter: Devi Sankaree Govender
Journalist: Sasha Schwendenwein

Everest II

Lee den Hond has left for Everest Base Camp to prepare for her summit attempt later this month, but not before receiving plenty of advice from fitness and climbing experts back home. She also paid a last visit to the kids of Schaumberg, for whom she’s already collected almost R158 000 in SMS donations from Carte Blanche viewers.

Producer: Kate Barry
Presenter: Bongani Bingwa
Journalist: Wynand Grobler

Transgender

What attracts high rollers onto dark street corners to burn money for the pleasure that only a certain kind of sexual experience brings to them? In Johannesburg’s affluent north, Snowy and others like her know exactly how to satisfy those very particular fantasies. Hers is a story that may challenge every preconception and prejudice you may have had. Join Carte Blanche in her world – that of the transgender sex worker.

Producer: Amalia Christoforou
Presenter: Bongani Bingwa
Journalist: Susan Comrie

Snowy was a very interesting character, very sad that "her" family gave her marching orders when they realised she was different and now she is taking care of the same family!
