How does an innocent and sweet mind turn PSYCHO? What makes a normal person twist into a sicko? What turns someone mad? And what role do mothers play in the descent into insanity?
Answers to these questions will soon be revealed on M-Net in the new thriller Bates Motel. The channel's confirmed that they've secured the rights to it and that it's scheduled to start in June - very good news all round.
A) Because it's important to understand such madness.
B) Because the show's most excellent.
This is the official description of it:
Bates Motel serves as a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film, “Psycho,” and gives viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years.
Viewers get access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand just how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is and how she helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all.
The best thing about the description is that it genuinely delivers on it's promise. I've had the deadly fortune of moving into the Bates Hotel to see what's going on and it's fascinating. It's dark, thrilling and
not clichéd. You see all of Norma and Norman's flaws and yet you feel for them and don't want to judge them. Yet you know you must.
British actor Freddie Highmore plays Norman and movie actress Vera Farmiga stars as Norma - her real life sister Taissa Farmiga played the haunted teen daughter on the first season of American Horror Story. They look a
lot alike.
Mr Guyliner Nestor Carbonell plays the Sheriff of the town that Norma and Norman move to and Pan Am hottie Mike Vogel plays his Deputy (with secrets).

So what do you think? Will you be watching with your mama?
